Re: Gasser Pic's
Is it an SS? I thought it was just the crossed flags next to the Impala script. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif
Don't know that I've ever seen a real '61 SS Convert. |

Re: Gasser Pic's
Rick,
I blew the photo up and those look like Impala crossed flags to me and not the SS emblems. No one knows how many SS convertibles were made in '61, but I do know of ONE. It was found in NE Pa. and restored many years ago. The only known production numbers that have surfaced are # of 61 409s (142) and # of SuperSports (453). The 409s were produced in a variety of body styles and not all in SuperSports as many magazine articles state. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gifVerne |
Re: Gasser Pic's
Thanks Verne. I think you both may be right. Neat car none the less.
I did find a blue SS409 convert on the net for sale for $249,000! Wow! When I turned sixteen, my ex and I looked at a 61 SS 348 tri power convert, red, red with white top in New Brighton, MN. It was void of any rust but was cobbled together all over the place. He wanted $600 and I was just about ready to buy it until I saw that the generator was (partially) held on with a coat hanger! That was the last straw and I shut the hood and told him I was not interested as I could not afford to fix all the cobbled up stuff when I was only 16! Bad move.......... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif 1961 SS 409 convert Rick |
