Re: Roof Deuce Restoration

Nothing yet Linda. So what do you think is a good price to split? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif
Funny how the original owner/car name seems to kinda stay with the car. With us, there'll always be a Moses deuce, a "Ten seconds to Heaven" (Wild Bill Edel) deuce, and at least with us, always a Roof deuce. When you've owned them as long as you have from day one, there's part of your soul in that car that never leaves.
To bad about the pics. Deuce stripes are like fingerprints. No two sets are exactly alike. It would have been cool to see how your had been put on.
And thanks for the compliment, but most of the time it's more like Orange county chopper around here. Thank Heaven I'm the sane one. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif

Hey sane one https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gifI priced the Caddy, don't think Sam will be willing to go that high, especially since we'll both be getting a cut. I'm thinking of buying another horse when I retire, maybe I should start checking prices on those!!
For some reason Earl and I didn't take a lot of pics when we were first married. Have sometimes wondered why that was since he had a really good camera and dabbled in photography and developing his own pictures when he was stationed in Germany.
I agree that part of your soul stays with the car. Every time I see another piece completed it brings back an old memory!!

Hey Linda - thanks for the info on the Ansens. Joe S. did a great job on your original SS wheels, don't you think? Not sure they looked that nice when you 1st saw the car on the Yenko lot! I will forever call this Deuce the "Roof Deuce" you can be sure of that - just like Schonye said. What was the name of the Italian restaurant in the basement on Philadelphia St. I tried to google it but did not recognize any of the names that came up. Ate there many a time over the years. There were plastic grapes and vines hanging from the ceiling.

Ah, it just came to me................Bruno's! yum! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

P.S. now don't go changing your user name https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif . We know where you're coming from. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

i talked to my dad and asked him if he knew anyone with the last name Roof, and he either remembers Earl or maybe his sister if he has one. he might have went to school with his brother,my uncle, mike morocco. they went to Penns Manor. i ate at luigis last christmas and i think the owner is a Tate, thats why the sauce is for sale at Tates foods. i believe the restaurant in Dubois is the same name also. there is also a car collector in Dubois as well. has alot of cars by his grocery store.....i cant remember the name of the store though. he may have sold the store now that i think about it........"yuns" have a good day now...... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Man that looks good! Are they Kevins legs peeking out from under that Deuce, Schoneys right hand man? Again, IMO us nova guys have to thank the Schoenthaler's, The SCW guys and associates and a few others for really shedding some lite on the little somewhat overlooked musclecar! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ouguysrock.gif

Re: Roof Deuce Restoration

Naw, that's Joe. Probably sleeping under there.
We were planning on putting headers on the car. Sam had wanted white like the Roofs had. So we sent a set to Jet Hot to have coated arctic white. Unfortunatly the white looks very thin, and Jet hot insists that's the way they are. (not happy) So Sam made the management decision to put on the manifolds for now, with the intent, down the road, to get a better coating on the headers, and install them.
I've always had good results from jet hot, but I could have bombed these with VHT, and had them look better. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Mayor..are these the original headers to the car redone???

Schonyenko2 02-21-2009 05:59 PM

Re: Roof Deuce Restoration

Yes Sam. We sent the original headers to Jet hot. In the past, I've used the method of spraying VHT on the headers, them blowing heat up the tubes with a torch to dry the paint, them keep adding coats until I get the desired result. I thought Jet hot might have a better lasting process as after a year or so the paint flakes off. White is always difficult. Touch a tube with a dirty, or oily hand, and it's permanently there.
