Say what? I don't have any pics of my car here- do I?

Oh, yeah, I did get your PM Paul. That notch is for the 3-Barrel Holley. I think I'm gonna run a 4-Barrel though; unless I can convert a 3-Barrel to mechanical secondaries. I did have an 850 mechanical secondary, manual choke that I rebuilt and sold (being the idiot I was at the time).

Now you just need to coat thos headers white! Oh, yeah, some huge speakers in the package tray! I too like to plumbing and the color selection for the intake. Reminds me of looking through Car Craft magazine when I was a kid.

Hey BBBenny,

Two questions

1. will your COPO be judged in the Day-Two Concours ?
2. more importantly, are you bringing some special meats to the show?

Re: Day 2 parts discussion

I picked up a 66 Cyclone GT that has some hubcaps I've never seen before. They may have been pretty common caps in the 60's. They make the steel wheels look like chrome reverse wheels.

Removing the hubcaps could give a stock car a day 2 look in minutes.

I thought they were pretty cool and thought I'd share.

I think you could get them at Pep Boy's, Sears and Penney's also. Probably even the Whitney catalog. If you came to a hang out with those on your car, everybody knew you had no money for Mags. HA!

Re: Day 2 parts discussion

NONE of you guys have seen a '64-'67 Cyclone with these before? I'm kinda surprised. They're FoMoCo-spec originals, used those years on Mercury Cyclones. Ford of Australia used them on their XR GT's during the late '60s. I have a set on my shelf I planned to use on my '65 Comet, it took a while to get them on eBay as I was always being outbid by some guy from Australia on 3 or 4 previous sets I bid on. Sets tend to run $200 or so for usable sets (you'll note fronts and rears are different) without much damage. If you plan to use them note where the valve stem is in relation to the lugs, not all wheels will work. Some offsets (amount of dish) won't work either. Original '65/'66 Mustang wheels will work, and they're not too tough to come by.

Re: Day 2 parts discussion

Interesting info Tom. I really don't know much about these Cyclones but I'm really digging this car. Big block, 4 speed, posi in a relatively small car has to be a good combo.

Thanks,

Jason

I found a full set of those chrome hub caps in the trunk of a 65 Comet Cyclone I bought years ago. It was a 23,000 mile one owner car that I bought from an estate sale. Now all I have left of it are these of out of focus pictures and some good memories.

Here is a pic of Jed's Tone Blue car from that thread. Can't see it all that well, but a start.

If we're identifying old bars, I would love to talk about these Ansen bars. I think someone called them rail road track grabbers.

Old pic Tommy posted of his:

Set that was sold on CL
http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/w...ansenbars2.jpg

I happen to really like them from seeing my dad use them on an old streetrod truck he helped my uncle build only 20-25 years ago. I always though the bars looked nice with a interesting shaped main bar.

If I could find a set for a 3rd gen Nova, I would jump in them!

Re: Day 2 parts discussion

You might mean "Ansen Ground Grabbers" but those orange bars aren't the Ansen GG's that I'm used to seeing. They almost look like NMW Traction Bars to me. If you really wanna see something neat . . . . check out a set of Ansen Ground Grabbers for Chevelle ("A" Body) applications. They take the place of your stock lower control arms and are really big, bulky, and serious-looking. About twenty-something years ago, a friend of my brother stopped by the house in a yellow '67 Chevelle with a 406 Small Block in it. I recognized the car from my Wednesday nights at the drag strip and knew that it was a solid 12.60 car which may have been a bit much for this particular 16-17 year old driver. Anyway, during an absolutely terrifying ride in the passenger seat, (NOT the car really, but the driver), I kept hearing a "clunking" under the rear of the car. Once we safely arrived back at the house, I was kissing the pavement of the driveway happy to still be alive when I noticed those traction bars under the rear of the Chevelle and realized that those were the noise makers. It took me a long time to find out what brand they were and who made them but eventually I was able to identify them and even score a couple of sets of these Ansen Ground Grabbers. I'll try to find some pictures of them to post.

Re: Day 2 parts discussion

Thanks Paul. I hadn't gotten that far to be able to take a good picture. It was more of a general question about the pictures to see if anyone had the old adds.

My set seems to look a little cheap? They are the short version and they are a 2"(may be 1.5"?) didn't measure. Ofcourse they have the thick 1/2" mounting plate with the shock attachment. I had talked to someone and they think that they may be old Mr. Gaskets?

If they are of Day 2 era, I would reuse them, but I don't like the fact that they don't hit the spring perch. I can see that the leaf is already bowed where the snubber hits.

I will try to get some better pics to post.
