Never put aluminum in the dishwasher with dishwasher detergent. How to mess up the finish, the alkalinity eats it up... Seen it many times with KitchenAid mixer parts and other stuff.

I got a bud that did his belts, carpet and seat covers. Swears by it.

I heard that if you dye them, you have to soak them is a salt solution afterward, to set the dye. I'm told that otherwise the dye will rub off onto your clothes, etc. Never tried it myself, but that's just what I've been told.
