anyone remember the International Race of Champions (IROC) ?
They used 1974 Camaros and the #7 Car was found and restored here is an article on the IROC series developed by Roger Penske https://www.hagerty.com/media/car-pr...r-with-desire/ |
Didn't AJ Foyt drive the bright Green one in IROC?
|
I'm pretty sure they ran 4 races in the old IROC series, 2 on road courses and 2 on ovals. The drivers changed cars for each race so no driver drove the same car twice, unless it was done totally at random; I don't remember for sure. I do remember that in the 1974 series everyone thought the black #7 was the fastest car.

A modern interpretation or street car clone of a '74 IROC race car would be a really cool ride.

Here's another Lime (Code 40) '74 Z28 that was on NastyZ28 years ago. Pictures seem to show it also had green interior although there was an automatic instead of the 4-speed.
It does still have the original '74 only grille! Those are pretty hard to come by. https://i.imgur.com/e02Q1sz.jpg https://i.imgur.com/jDjOFAs.jpg https://i.imgur.com/LA3IYfg.jpg |
I have always thought those 74 Z28 were neat with the stripes. There is on local yo me that a guy did for is sister hell 30 yrs ago. Black int, 4sp not sure if it's an AC car, but the body is pearl white with a pearl lime green stripes. Always liked that look over the years.
I'm actually looking at a '78 Z28 just because it's my buddys old car that I spent a lot of time in, nice color combo, and could make a great driver car but it'd been sitting and need the lacquer paint striped and redone. Would go base clear now. I like the '78 over the later ones as it still has the "cockpit" style wrap-around dash on the early gen 2's. '79 has the fatter dashes. |
