Tachs were mounted either on column or as a knee knocker on the lower dash. My car still has the scar from the tach that was mounted to the column, and holes were never drilled for a dash mounted tach. My Yenko shop order does indicate installation of the Stewart Warner tach and gauges.

Stinger hood scoops were closed, but owners sometimes cut them open. They were advertised as “lightweight” and were structurally pretty weak. This resulted in warpage (like yours Richard) and cracking down the center. After a short time, some owners moved the hood pins toward the center of the radiator support for better hood support.

I think you’re referring to a crack like this. While driving the car the hood really takes a beating because it has such a lightweight structure. I haven’t run it on my car in a long time.

Yes - very few of those hoods survived. Here is a picture of a stinger hood on a 67 Yenko Camaro. This car did not have a stinger installed at delivery, but it was added in late 1968 or early 1969. Probably the same type that was installed by Yenko (or their sub-contractor). By the way - a lot of this info should be credited to JoeC, Doug P, and Matt N. You can see how weak the hood was - even the hood hinge threadserts would pull out.

When I was a kid I had a magazine with the black 67 Yenko and I thought that was the coolest car ever. In 8th grade shop class we had to make a sign with our last name. I asked my teacher if I could make my sign bigger and put something car related on it and he said that was fine. My router work is kind of shaky but I thought it was cool and I still have it.

YS703 window sticker doesn’t list lightweight hood. YS713 window sticker does show lightweight hood, but price is wrong & sticker has problems. Not disputing that the cars came with stinger hoods. Just wondering why shop orders that we have don’t show installation charges on any 700 series. Would love to see Vince’s records :-)
