Dog & Suds, A&W, and Murrell's, now known as Dairy Princess. [/ QUOTE ] Ray: I was in West Plains yesterday, and I was telling the wife about where you used to hang out, and we got to wondering...I assume the current residence of the Dog 'N' Suds is the original one, but where was the A&W and Murrells? The old Sonic maybe? My wife thought maybe the Maid Rite down the street from the Dog 'N' Suds? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif |
Re: Calling Ray Morrison
The Suds'N (Called Dog-N-Suds) is in the same location on Broadway. What your wife mentioned as Maid-Rite, was simply known as Murrell's or Dairy Princess at that time. The A&W was located on Porter Wagner Blvd., just South of Carter Funeral Home.

Re: Calling Ray Morrison
jackal,
I'm sure it is not the same car, unless a lot has been changed? Ours had a conventional front suspension and a tilt fiberglass front end. Ours had no lights in front, had a Chevrolet Bowtie cut into the front center of the grille portion and several round holes about the size of silver dollars to let air flow into the radiator. Do you have any history on the car you have pictured and where was it run in the mid to late 60's? Cool car!!! Ray |

" found this '55 about four years ago for $800 - WITH a smallblock, 2x4s on a tunnel ram, 4-speed, fenderwell headers, and steel tilt front end. Looks like it's got some history, it was called "Orange Crate" by the lettering on the door" i can get you an email address if your intrested, he is a member of the twolaneblacktop website that talks about 55 chevys and 55 gasser cars and has many pictures, i am restoring an old 55 chevy race car now, i would post some picturers here, but this is a supercar website and dont want to create a havoc in the wrong area, here is another picture that i have of the orange crate thanks jp |

Ray Morrison: what *might* have been...

When we all think of Ray, we automatically think of his '68 Gibb-Harrell COPO Nova...but what if Ray had chosen a different platform? It's hard picturing Ray in anything *but* his blue Nova, but the other day when dad dropped by and talked with Ray, he gave dad the handout below, which he got when inquiring about purchasing a new vehicle...

Re: Ray Morrison: what *might* have been...
Also, Ray told me he even considered buying a ZL-1, going as far as discussing it with Dick Harrell, but the cost difference between the Nova vs ZL-1 was just too much. Something like 3 grand.
