Running the same cross ram as yours and love it. I'm running Z28 carbs, linkage, fuel lines etc. Love your old school look!
Your build is looking awesome. Very impressed!!

A little more progress, PCV lines run, headers bolted on, fuel lines run, cross ram bolted down, starter and alternator wire and back on.
Does all that happy fit under the L88 hood?
Ryan W31 |
Ryan, it does, I was surprised that it did. The hood closes and latches no problem. With a big smile,
Hopefully not so close as to seal off the V-Stacks! Looks awesome.
Looking sharp. Can the P Brakes share the manifold vacuum with the driver's side VC without compromise to braking? Or does the PCV valve at the VC address that? I don't know - just asking.
Sam, I believe they can, I looked back on a bunch of pictures of crossrams and they were teed or coupled in some way. I guess time will tell for sure
There probably isn't going to be much vacuum from that engine anyway. I'm sure that the cam is large. The brake booster may not work well even without the T.
OMFG that is beautiful! I think I need to change my underwear!
What's in store for exhaust?

I spotted this at the Frog Follies today. I wish I had a car to put it on!
Wow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That hood looks like a steel of a deal.
For $200, that would look great hanging in somebody's garage!
Yeah, I really wish I had offered him $150 for it and brought it home. The paint was beautiful on it. I'm really regretting this one.

A little more progress, waiting on spark plugs. I didn't think they would be a hold up. I have r43 coming and I am going to try the E3 plus. I have accel yellow Super Stock wires for it. Then I think I am about done in the engine compartment.

Diggin the white headers too! I just heard sets of the M/T Super Scavenger on Youtube etc.. and decided they are on my 'find' list (I really dig the ping-pong idle). Apparently they're being re-popped but I haven't nailed down that source yet. Here's a link to the SBC ones ceramic coated orange..that turn "tomato red" near the primary inlets. Those things SCREAM vintage.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vG1uX-E57f8 I have to say yours is one of the nicest combo's I've seen in quite awhile..Kudos! I'm an absolute '70-73 junkie. Here's the one I picked up last summer. It's more of an 80's day-2 vibe...since it was a street brawler from the Rockford, IL area that had been in storage since '92'ish. Lakewood "Traction Action"'s, warmed over '68 L34 transplant w/ "breathed on" LS5 heads, T400, Centerline "Pro Stock" wheels, fiberglass dr. seat w Simpson harness and some pretty unique and nicely done alum. firewall metal work (cover boxes). Oh yeah. These are the pics as found...I've moved the fuel pump from the shot below. (There were literally five "What not to do" with how/where that pump was mounted that don't even factor in driveability.) I've made some minor but I think cool changes that add to the vibe a bit. I'll post 'em here. |

Slow moving progress, but it least I have made some progress.
Looks like a killer project
Does anyone out there have a picture of a second gen Camaro with a hood tach?

Glad to see you are using the correct early Accel coil with old style yellow decal.. Those plastic fuel lines though...are notorious for splitting and burning to the ground nice cars. Only thing I would chnage is the valve covers for some period aftermarket ones. |

I was struggling with a tach for this car, still has reverse lock out so a column tach was out. I ending up doing a hood tach.
Looks cool.

Early form of Head Up Display!!

Looks great.

Decided to use the Hush Thrush mufflers and drop them just before the rear end. I just need to add some turn downs and tighten it all up.
Not the tach and mufflers look good Dan.......that little small block should sound kewl.
I haven't seen a set of those mufflers since the set that I had on my SS '67 Chevelle back in the early '80s. I had mine connected directly to the headers, and nothing behind them.

I had Mary Yeadon paint this picture of the 70 Day 2 Z. She nailed it. Bellflower art, she is always at the MCACN show.
That's awesome! Great detail.
Wow! That’s really nice.
Dan,
Mary nailed it.....what a wonderful piece of art work for the Day2 Speed Shop :) Well done. Dan |
New Day 2 look for my 70 Z

Also, the Biggest HP killer is the tailpipe. Corvettes have been placing the mufflers at the end of the exhaust system for decades. If you notice any dyno pictures of engines, the mufflers are as far away from the engine as possible. Don. |
Wow, she really captured the true essence of your Camaro! Nice!
