Running the same cross ram as yours and love it. I'm running Z28 carbs, linkage, fuel lines etc. Love your old school look!

KenMaisano 08-19-2018 02:49 PM

Your build is looking awesome. Very impressed!!

Looks awesome! excellent job. My car is not as nice but the best looking hood in my opinion on a 2nd gen

Slot mags or Cragars and it would be perfect.

A little more progress, PCV lines run, headers bolted on, fuel lines run, cross ram bolted down, starter and alternator wire and back on.

Ryan1969Chevelle 08-24-2018 11:18 AM

Does all that happy fit under the L88 hood?

Ryan W31

chevyandpontiac 08-24-2018 11:39 AM

Ryan, it does, I was surprised that it did. The hood closes and latches no problem. With a big smile,

BCreekDave 08-24-2018 02:55 PM

Hopefully not so close as to seal off the V-Stacks! Looks awesome.

mockingbird812 08-24-2018 03:25 PM

Looking sharp. Can the P Brakes share the manifold vacuum with the driver's side VC without compromise to braking? Or does the PCV valve at the VC address that? I don't know - just asking.

chevyandpontiac 08-24-2018 03:27 PM

Sam, I believe they can, I looked back on a bunch of pictures of crossrams and they were teed or coupled in some way. I guess time will tell for sure

big gear head 08-24-2018 03:57 PM

There probably isn't going to be much vacuum from that engine anyway. I'm sure that the cam is large. The brake booster may not work well even without the T.

R68GTO 08-24-2018 10:34 PM

OMFG that is beautiful! I think I need to change my underwear!

wheelhop 08-25-2018 01:01 AM

What's in store for exhaust?

I spotted this at the Frog Follies today. I wish I had a car to put it on!

CamarosRus 08-26-2018 06:21 AM

Wow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

markinnaples 08-26-2018 05:43 PM

That hood looks like a steel of a deal.

wheelhop 08-26-2018 05:59 PM

For $200, that would look great hanging in somebody's garage!

big gear head 08-26-2018 06:39 PM

Yeah, I really wish I had offered him $150 for it and brought it home. The paint was beautiful on it. I'm really regretting this one.

A little more progress, waiting on spark plugs. I didn't think they would be a hold up. I have r43 coming and I am going to try the E3 plus. I have accel yellow Super Stock wires for it. Then I think I am about done in the engine compartment.

I don't suppose you got the guys contact info? If it's a bolt-on, it's EXACTLY what I need.

I've heard a lot of engine builders swearing by the NGK's so I'm going to go that route when I replace mine. Looks like the NGK BR6S should be the cross ref. for the AC R43's if that would be an easier option to find(?).

Diggin the white headers too! I just heard sets of the M/T Super Scavenger on Youtube etc.. and decided they are on my 'find' list (I really dig the ping-pong idle). Apparently they're being re-popped but I haven't nailed down that source yet. Here's a link to the SBC ones ceramic coated orange..that turn "tomato red" near the primary inlets. Those things SCREAM vintage.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vG1uX-E57f8

I have to say yours is one of the nicest combo's I've seen in quite awhile..Kudos! I'm an absolute '70-73 junkie. Here's the one I picked up last summer. It's more of an 80's day-2 vibe...since it was a street brawler from the Rockford, IL area that had been in storage since '92'ish. Lakewood "Traction Action"'s, warmed over '68 L34 transplant w/ "breathed on" LS5 heads, T400, Centerline "Pro Stock" wheels, fiberglass dr. seat w Simpson harness and some pretty unique and nicely done alum. firewall metal work (cover boxes).

Oh yeah. These are the pics as found...I've moved the fuel pump from the shot below. (There were literally five "What not to do" with how/where that pump was mounted that don't even factor in driveability.) I've made some minor but I think cool changes that add to the vibe a bit. I'll post 'em here.

Slow moving progress, but it least I have made some progress.

markinnaples 10-11-2018 01:40 PM

Looks like a killer project

chevyandpontiac 12-31-2018 02:43 PM

Does anyone out there have a picture of a second gen Camaro with a hood tach?

Glad to see you are using the correct early Accel coil with old style yellow decal..

Those plastic fuel lines though...are notorious for splitting and burning to the ground nice cars.

Only thing I would chnage is the valve covers for some period aftermarket ones.

I was struggling with a tach for this car, still has reverse lock out so a column tach was out. I ending up doing a hood tach.

markinnaples 01-07-2019 01:59 PM

Looks cool.

Decided to use the Hush Thrush mufflers and drop them just before the rear end. I just need to add some turn downs and tighten it all up.

69 Post Sedan 01-10-2019 11:26 AM

Not the tach and mufflers look good Dan.......that little small block should sound kewl.

big gear head 01-10-2019 11:51 AM

I haven't seen a set of those mufflers since the set that I had on my SS '67 Chevelle back in the early '80s. I had mine connected directly to the headers, and nothing behind them.

Had the same on my Camaro. I was running a General Kinetics cam and that sucker beat those mufflers into the floor boards right under the front seats.

I had Mary Yeadon paint this picture of the 70 Day 2 Z. She nailed it. Bellflower art, she is always at the MCACN show.

big gear head 06-21-2019 02:29 PM

That's awesome! Great detail.

scuncio 06-21-2019 09:30 PM

Wow! That’s really nice.

Postsedan 06-22-2019 01:55 AM

Dan,

Mary nailed it.....what a wonderful piece of art work for the Day2 Speed Shop :)

Well done.

Excellent decision on muffler placement, since a lot of states require exhaust exit to be at the least to the rear axle to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning. Dodge that ticket!
Also, the Biggest HP killer is the tailpipe. Corvettes have been placing the mufflers at the end of the exhaust system for decades. If you notice any dyno pictures of engines, the mufflers are as far away from the engine as possible. Don.

mockingbird812 06-24-2019 03:43 PM

Wow, she really captured the true essence of your Camaro! Nice!
