Not a great first car but it was free since my parents gave it to me. Around 1978-79 they bought a new car for my mom and I got her 1972 Buick Skylark 2 door. Gold, black vinyl top and saddle/gold interior. 350/automatic on the floor. Was a nice car but not muscle/sporty.

Purchased for $500 and eventually installed a mid 60's Corvette motor (L76 I think) and 3 speed Hurst floor shifter. Owned several '57s in my early years including a Nomad but this was my first.

I like those early style mags on front of your 57. Lot of those mags back in the day. Cool!

My first purchased-by-me was a 1964 GTO I bought on the Southside of Chicago, my college roomate has a pic buried in a box. I don't have the vin otherwise I would try to find it, I heard it was repainted but still had the Chevy 327 in there. White vinyl top, orig a red car, body was a plum color and it has "Insanity" stenciled on the rear quarters. I sold it to a guy named Rich back in 1987.

Thunderbolt with Mickey Thompson mags
I’ve got a pic of a Thunderbolt with those mags in the front. The local Ford dealer in my hometown raced it. I think the pic is circa 1967,68. I’ve got to get my daughter to scan these pics I’m talking about on to her computer.
Thanks Bill, all these years and I never knew what brand those mags were. Richard |

My memory, though operating on less than 100% these days, recalls them being Fenton. When's the last time you saw redlines on a '57 by the way :)
