I’m seeing a difference in stripe emblem placement ? Is it an optical illusion? The SS emblem on the original paint Camaro butts up to the body line and the stripe is well below the body line. On the white ‘67 the stripe butts up to the body line and the emblems are well above the body line. But yes laid out in similar fashion. The white Camaros Layout is most like John’s Camaro |

John your car sure appears to be original paint and it just slipped through without anyone catching it. Not common, but understandable for an early L78. |
Here's what I know of the 4P L78 cars. 10 are known and there are two more that appear to be added L78 engines. Several of the 10 are block or docs only, so no vehicle data.
The first cars were the pacers. The first L78 for public sale was Jenkin's car. The only non-IPC cars that are known to exist are: Jenkins John's blue car Mark's old red car White convertible that Richard knows about. |
I wasn't aware Jenkins car was sold through a dealer to Jenkins. Good to know and thank you for the information.
Not to derail this thread but are there any more early photos like the ones I posted previously? Hoping to see it in more stock form (before lettering). https://www.yenko.net/forum/attachme...1&d=1640224188 https://www.yenko.net/forum/attachme...1&d=1640224188 https://www.yenko.net/forum/attachme...1&d=1640224188 |
Thanks for that info Kurt! I always wondered how many might have been produced.

4p l78
there was what we felt like a real one on ebay a number of years ago. It was in NJ so Phil Bate and I took a ride over to check it out. It had all the signs of being a 4p l78. I think it was early an april car and had all the big block heater core and frame mounts with the 4p code. I think it was black. He may have put it in his reg. as a possible car. I will have to find out

... My car was put in the garage around 2008 and the owner started to Mini Tub the rear wheel wells to accommodate a wider tire and rim ... but he never completed it. ... The work was not real clean and I want to have it redone. ... Should I put it back with "Stock" wheel tubs ... or put mini tubs to accommodate the wider tires and wheels like he was trying to do ? ... ... All his races were done with "Stock" wheel tubs. ... I appreciate ALL input. ...:dunno: ... |
If the work was already done to your satisfaction, then I'd leave it, but since it needs work no question return the wheel tubs to stock configuration.
