It was nice to see you Rich! You are right...where else can you go for ~ $10 (on the early days of the auction) and get free parking...free tram/bus ride to the door...and end up with more than $10 worth of catalogs/giveaways etc?

Plus...as a bonus...you get to see a bunch of cool cars...and some really crazy people https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Chevelle Heart,

We bought the L78 vert for $167K. It is going to Omaha for a new museum. It looks to be a real car with build sheets and other docs. I haven't crawled all over it yet to see what all the part numbers are but it looks good so far. We also bought the fathom green Yenko Camaro that was Ron Wilhelm's and Stefano's red Yenko Chevelle. The white L78 Chevelle Conv is the former Jim Bukovic car. Just talked to him today. Orig drivetrain car. I think he sold it for $10k back in the day ...lol.....when we were kids....

The white L-78 Convt. once belonged to Mr.B too.

Which L78 convert has a photocopy of the buildsheet because a prior owner wouldnt give up the original? It was back about 7/8 years ago when it sold. I thought it was either a black or white car..

I spotted Charlie, Stephano (tell your butt to stop calling me, especially while I'm fending off the homeless) and a few others. Wished I had visted with more of you, spent half a day at the Pavillions and most of my time a Russo Steele.

Saw Charlie at the 'Mecum Preview'- telling his Robosaurus joke to anyone who would listen. Funny thing was, I really didn't know if Charlie was joking or not. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif

This was the first year I brought my dad. He walked in and said "Is this the Arizona State Fair, or an auction?" Dad had it right- came away with "BJ is a county fair caught cross-breeding with a casino while a car auction videotapes the act."

Dad found a brown '64 Sport Fury at R&S similar to one he "made a few dollars drag-racing with" during his high school days. Overall, time well spent with the old man. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif

...is BJ moving to Las Vegas in the near future? I wouldn't be surprised.

Isn't that where most tired acts migrate too once they've overstayed their time in the limelight?

Perspective offered by a friend:

Some interesting stats from the BJ:

2008 - sold 1,167 cars, boats, trucks, dinosaurs etc for a total of $88 mil and had 280,000 attendees .

2007- sold 1,270 for a total of $112 mil with 250,000 attendees.

In 2008 sold 8% fewer cars for 27% less money. On a per vehicle sale basis about 15% less year over year (from an average of $88,200 in 2007 to $75,400 in 2008)

Fewer big dollar cars in the $1mil+ range, no Ferrari boy? Early onset recession? Average sale price was $75,400 this year - hardly chump change.

He is a Exec VP at a big brokerage firm,so I guess he had some time on is hands this week, or it was done by his analysis department.
