Hello all. I am fairly new to this group and have an inquiry.

I just received my NCRS papers for my 71 Z28. It gives me the zone number as 18 which is Des Moines, IA. It also states that the official production date was 05/05/1972 and the dealer code is 491. It then states "Unfortunately the GM listing does not have a name for this dealer."

Does anyone know what deal ship this is or where I can get the info using this code? Thanks for any help you can offer.

My guess would be executive car, billed to Delco Moraine. employee cars usually went through a dealer even though there may have been an employee discount. This car went to Delco Moraine for a reason, if not as a test or development then probably for a executive.

I received my NCRS letter today on the 1968 Camaro I recently purchased.

Dealer Code 120 in zone 14

City Chevrolet, Baltimore, Maryland.

Very Cool! It must have headed South a long time ago, It was titled in Mississippi until recently.

Just putting this out there again. If you have dealer zone and codes with no corresponding dealer name or information, let me know and I will see if I have any information in my database.

Still have not found dealer 833 in zone 23 (Oklahoma).

Everyone says it should start with an "S" but we have never nailed it down.

It's been close to 5 years since this was posted so I had to ask, has the NCRS found anything on full size Chevrolet's out of the St Louis plant yet or will they not support the full size cars?

Frank Z wasn't around until ~1972. Ray Bryant was the dealer on Brown Street that Frank bought out in 72-73 timeframe.

A sale to a GM division is usually a car for the executive pool and these sometimes are purposed for engineering testing or as a "company car" for travel between divisions etc. After about 6 months they were usually posted on bulletin boards or in the division newsletter for sale to employees. They couldn't be sold as new but did have the remainder of the new car warranty. My folks got a few cars this way. Never heard of any hi-po cars. Mostly high-line Caddies or Buicks but also many plain janes.
