Re: SCR18
Just my opinion so take it or leave it...
You're looking on the wrong end for that 10...my car is within 1-2 tenths of you at the 330' mark...and I leave from an idle. Leave the 4.56 in it, your hp peak is identical to mine (with ex. manifolds even) and I go quicker shifting past hp peak...think about it, you want it to fall back into the power not have to re-accelerate the engine...I only short-shift it if there's a traction issue. It's not your intake/pump/fan holding you back. How tall are your tires? Is your cam retarded/straight-up/advanced? Great pass and great mph though! |
Re: SCR18
Rob is dead on.
It shouldn't lay over like that past peak. Mine peaks at ~6K but will pull strongly all the way up to the 6800 rev limiter setting. I have several thoughts if you're interested, but rather than clutter up this thread with tech, give me a call if you'd like to go over them. |
Re: SCR18
Tires are 28" tall One of the other small fixes is going to be the distributor ....we are going to advance it and fix it in the lock position going under a load we will be losing degrees

Ok. Here's a proposal. Next year. Schoenthaler Restorations will supply the trophy for the COPO Pete Simpson memorial bracket shoot out. Run the cars, check your time slips, find the number you think you can run, put it on the window, and lets see whose king of the hill. No box, no electronics. 20.00 entry fee. Winner can keep the money, give it to charity, back to the reunion fund, or buy drinks for everyone. Pete was one of the coolest guys I've ever met. Unfiltered doesn't even describe him. I miss him and his crew. What do you all think? |

What... no box...no electronics?

Re: SCR18
I like it ....consistency is a given with the automatic cars ...us lone wolf stick cars are sitting ducks ....after saying this....I think it's worth 2 tenths in our favor ....is anybody buying this Kool Aid ?

Re: SCR18
I love the idea of a memorial to Pete! I probably would not have much of a chance to win but I AM IN!
By the way I like Jason's idea of a Bar-B-Q on Thursday evening. Jamie |

Re: SCR18
Count us in for the racing. Also, like the idea of the BBQ. Hopefully we can get around sooner next year so we do not miss out.
|
Re: SCR18
Count the green machine in .... Jason's barbecue on Thursday night will be a blast the food is remarkable. He takes great pride in his barbecue and how he prepares his food. It would be a good start to a fun weekend
|
Re: SCR18
hey Doug, hate to burst your bubble, but the index for B stock is 5/100 quicker than B stock automatic. Evidently the full time guys can shift their stick cars better than us automatic guys.count me in for bracket race and thumbs up to barbecue.
|
Re: SCR18
Seat time is a blast ...Andy I hope you can make it to the good guys next year if you remember Jason cooked for us at our barbecue at my house very tasty
|
Re: SCR18
of course I remember. And next year I'm bringing my swimming trunks for the hot tub. And maybe my snorkel mask.

My car's as consistent as a Politician's loyalty but like Schonye, (and everyone else) if it's to Honor Pete, I'm there 100%. Maybe I can convince our Dragway bunch to throw in something too. |
Re: SCR18
Snorkel only please....bottle of Crown for the victor . Here's an idea....how about this ...we make the plaque to honor Copo Pete ....with name tags for each years winner ....then the winner has the honor to retain the Plaque ( CROWN) for 1 year ...then it gets handed over to the next years winner

Re: SCR18
Doug personally called me a while ago asking me to bring the Blue Bomber. Financially it wasn't going to happen but since then, I went back to my old job and just like Dennis said, come hell or high water, I will be there next year.....and participating in the bracket shootout. Bring on those automatics.

Re: SCR18
Very nice car, and a fine man behind the wheel.
Spoke with our trophy guru. The COPO Pete memorial shoot out traveling trophy is a go. |
Re: SCR18
That trophy will travel the globe like a gnome...and represent Pete and his family well...taking Pete and his memory everywhere

All the way to Southern Missouri. If not mistaken.. we did this once before at the SCR and PETE came out on top in his White COPO Camaro. |
Re: SCR18
It would look awesome in my CAR CABIN
|
Re: SCR18
As I give the bracket race some more thought, if we want any shot at the trophy, we might not want to mention this to Ed H., as I do not think you become a World Champion and, hired by Grumpy to drive one of his cars, simply by showing up.

Re: SCR18
Was great to see a couple of father and son teams at the SCR, Mark and Mark Hasset in their gorgeous '68 Motion Camaro and Frank and Caleb Arone in their '69 COPO Camaro.
|
Re: SCR18
Agreed Tom....The Hassetts are great to see and chat with....Frank and Caleb Arone are getting some fun time together outside of their busy schedules. I think SCR19 will be even better and if anyone has suggestions...please let us know....1 thing for sure ..we are moving up our banquet time to 7 pm.
|
Re: SCR18
What time was the banquet this year Doug?
|
Re: SCR18
Hey Rick. This year the banquet portion started at 8:15 pm. along with guest speaker and honoree. That makes for a long day with drag racing . So if we streamline the happy hour ....we can have dinner at 7 pm.
