Rick, just read this entire thread and I am blown away! Your attention to detail is amazing. I can only hope to be in the ballpark of your expertise. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and connections. I appreciate all your help.

Yenko Chevelle hood stripes did vary as seen in original pictures
some were angled, some look straight some ran longer then the fender stripe , some were shorter most looked to be about same length as the fender stripe some Y Chevelles were said to not have the "SYC arrow" hood piece also interesting is some Yenko Chevelles had the 1968 427 emblems most had the 1969 Yenko 427 emblems |

And from what I have heard recently some Yenko Chevelles came with flat Malibu hoods. I know some early shots of Nick's car has a flat non striped hood but have yet to ask him if it came that way or if he put that hood on.
Here are some other photos of stripe variations as well. Not how the stripe also continues beyond the chrome grilles. Not how deep the sYc triangle is on the 2nd photo when compared with the last photo. |

here are more of Nick's old Yenko Chevelle
looks like it has an SS hood, short stripes and large SYC arrow but could have been added later how about those muncie rope stands? |

here is the restored blue one from the field pic with the couple standing next to it

'Correct' or not, it looks SOOOOOOO much better with the mags.

No arguement from me.

15” Rally’s are cool because they are part of the COPO order...69 Z/28 wheels special ordered on a Chevelle.
|
It is amazing Don was able to order those tires on the Yenko Chevelles
That was a large tire for a new 1969 Chevelle. Yenko SportsCar COPO 9737 15x7 Z/28 wheel with the special order F70x15 GoodYear GT tires. same size tire as the 69 Corvette (but not same tire) and one size wider then the E70 Z/28 tires I think Yenko got the best wheels and tires he can for the Yenko Chevelles using the COPO program |
Agreed but it really sucks when you have to try and find a set to make a perfect restoration. Can't be many of these left and certainly not in the condition I found these in.
|
Rick - So are there still some parts you are looking for on this build?
|
Rainer, yes but the list has greatly diminished. I need to make time to post a wanted add, maybe today. Drip rail moldings, inside/outside rear view mirror, shifter boot (3 ribbed), quarter window chrome and rubber, 15" trim rings and NOS rear hood chrome are about all I can think of for now.
|
Rick did your car come with a passenger side door mirror
|
No it did not. Someone correct me if I am wrong but I believe that was a dealer installed only option.

The first showing of the Chevelle in an "under construction" process. Seemed to be well received. Thanks to Jamie and Joe for getting the car there and setting it up and Brian and Joey for supplying all the signage. I take the car back to the shop in two weeks and then crash more nights and weekends to get it assembled as 95% if those parts are restored and ready to assemble.

Very nice! Good to see Don swing by too!

Beautiful! Love It!!!!

Looks great!! :3gears:

Looks amazing!!
This is the new high water mark!! 1969 :-) Ryan W31 |
Grady and me made a quick and easy 2 hr run to the steel city just to see a Ricks car, well worth the trip :worship:
Nice seeing Rick, Joe, Jamie , Brian and Joey. Well done guys. Mike |
Beautiful so far !! Like the engine paint color, spot on..
|
And I appreciated the knowledge that you two passed onto me. You are worthless and very closed minded if you think you cannot learn something new every day.

I think it's awesome when someone restores them the way there were built and not over restored. Stick to your methods.

Looks Awesome!

Awesome stuff so far Rick, looking forward to the next round! Cool to see Don @ your booth, one of the Hurst Linda cutouts may be a nice addition too?:hmmm: :beers: ~ Pete . |
Unreal Rick. That nice and this fast. Your detail is awesome. Look forward to seeing it. Dave

For those that noticed you will see that my original door handles finally came back from the plater and we installed them at the show. Looks much better now. :)

Thank you, I really could not sleep at night.

Thanks to Phil Woj, Earl H, Bruce H, Mark D, several other sYc members and others online who have helped with our search, I have finally located and received all but the drip rail moldings I am still looking for. All these pieces were NOS and came from people who reluctantly but graciously decided to sell the parts to us so for that we are very thankful. I will be getting the Chevelle back in the shop this weekend and told Annie her relaxation is now over. Enjoy her weekdays cuz that is about all she will have as her nights and weekends are going to be booked up for a while. :)

Thanks to Jason for swapping out his mint NOS 990B monitor for my not as nice one plus some cash. This one will look great on the firewall. Not that the other one was not good but this one was mint so thank you for doing that.
|
My pleasure Rick. I think the one in the picture is the one I received, not the one I sent. Is that right?
Thanks, Jason |

This past weekends project were the gauges and wiring harness. All were torn down, cleaned and repaired as necessary. The carriers were badly rusted and corroded so all had to be stripped and cleared or repainted as original including the white interiors. All hardware restored. Next comes a new gauge lens face and then mounted into the dash carrier that was in excellent shape. I will finish on the dash carrier in the coming evenings and assemble it as a unit in anticipation of installing it shortly.

Beautiful!

As a general rule I replace all wiring harnesses whether they need to or not at least under the hood for safety reasons. The rest depends on the condition. When ever I use reproduction harnesses I always open them up and replace some of the wires with correctly colored ones from my inventory and change out any incorrect ones. American Auto Wire custom made all the harnesses on the car by hand using some of the items I sent them and they did a great job. The dash harness was still in great shape so I ended up restoring my original using original style tapes and wraps. Original color coded fuses were also cleaned and reused.
All electrical switches were disassembled, rebuild and relubed. I do this on almost every restoration to insure everything is brand new. The intermediate harness was supplied by AAW and the sheathing was the original which was restored. |
surprised the painted fuses survived so well..hard to get in 2019
