I picked up a triple SW greenline set today from a friend... theyre part numbered from the 71 catalog..but im not sure.
however..the temp gauge appears to be electrical... and the wire is cut short. or am I wrong? do I need to send it to Williamson?

That looks like a hose to me. Hard to tell in the picture, but is there a crimp where it meets the gauge?

That is a mechanical gauge. The capillary tube and line are missing. You are probably better off finding a replacement gauge.

A couple members have asked me for date information on the 60’s Stewart Warner gauges.

Thought I’d post it up so others may benefit also.

This set I have show the part number on the face and the date stamped on the back.

When I pulled these out for pics, I stuck the water temp sensor in a pan of hot water. It works.

These old vintage green lines are super cool to hang under the dash and more accurate than the in dash factory version.

that is some great information, thank you very much !
mine appear to be dated june of 1973. i did not send my temp gauge out for a new capillary tube. i ordered a new version and its close enough for my taste and function. a few days in CLR and the carrier came out darn good for sitting in someones garage for 40 something years

The new gauge looks nice...you would not been able to fix the old gauge. Once the capillary

tube is cut...the gauge is done.

Dave,

That is not necessarily true. I have seen them repaired with a tube from another gauge.
