Beautiful car!

Are there other photos we can look at specifically the 2 fender tags you mention in your ad?

1967Z28 07-25-2017 03:59 AM

Not being a Mopar guy, it would be easy to assume somebody put the wrong colored seats in the car, so thanks for the education and GLWS.

There is no way to know exactly how many had this interior.

442w30 07-28-2017 04:44 AM

So then where did this number come from?

the427king 07-28-2017 04:54 AM

Im actually surprised it wasnt less than 35...nice car

442w30 07-28-2017 05:02 AM

They made over 3,000 Camaros in the same color combo, so why such low expectations for this?

Anyway, I have paperwork from Chrysler that shows how many cars were built by option, but it doesn't specify interior colors. However, I do know there's some info floating around that isn't included in the docs that I have (exterior color), hence my curiosity.

Sometimes people use a report from Galien Govier that states that it is one of 35 71 'cudas that HE HAS DECODED or seen with this interior.

Since he never saw ever car it is highly misleading.

Lee Stewart 07-28-2017 06:22 AM

An interesting fact about the 1971 'Cuda . . .

If you ordered the base engine (383-4V) and added A/C you couldn't order the optional E60x15 RWL tires:

Thanks for all the great response it is a super rare car. I have a lot of rare Mopar inside info. I used to part out a lot of cars starting in 1975. I used to street race in Detroit back then and sold parts with adds in the Trading times , The State fair swap meets etc. A lot of the older execs were die hard Mopar guys. They came and bought parts from me etc. I struck up a lot of good friendships from these guys who gave me a lot of info when it was nothing big. Bill Brownlie was a Neighbor. He was ahead of Chrysler's Advanced Studio Design and Dodge Division. He designed the Charger , The Yellow Jacket and later the Diamante Show car. I have tons of Rare Drawings and Info. I have a lot of Bulletins and more etc. I have shared some over the years with Barry Washington concerning the Trans Am program and some other info. I am more of a private guy with no intention to mess up anyone who has no info. I have changed it to make it more suitable lets say to a handful made . I have owned tons of rare Mopars over the years . I only know of 4 1971 Cuda's built with this Interior. I owned 2 of these and that one was a 383 4 spd as well. The other ones are 340 Cuda's. 3 are white my other one was Tor Red Exterior. One is a hardtop and the other one is a 71 Cuda 340 white ragtop same color as mine. I am old school and I respect other peoples adds and I don't rain on anyone's parade.

the427king 07-28-2017 01:43 PM

Here are some other facts....5500 cudas built total 1971. 285000 camaros 1969 . Cudas had 2 different orange interiors. There were about 3500 pace cars of which orange was mandatory. Orange interior camaros that were not pace cars are pretty rare overall ..regardless of what the number of orange w black seats cudas were built it cant be very high. Great car good luck w the sale. Id love to have it myself.

Steve Shauger 07-28-2017 03:16 PM

Dean, that's a stunning car, and very rare. Thanks for posting!!! GLWS:beers:

Actually, the rough "5500" number you used is for US-spec cars and doesn't reflect total production.

In any case, my point is that the color combo is not unusual, so why the low expectations for this combo in a 'Cuda when it was immensely popular elsewhere? No, I'm not suggesting it was popular for the Plymouth, but it's not something that reeks of being unusual.

Regarding the OP's comment about raining on someone's parade, I don't think anyone here has done such a thing. When posting an ad in public, scrutiny is to be expected.

Still waiting to see a black car with that interior. :3gears:

the427king 07-29-2017 08:23 PM

Please tell me where orange was a "usual"color option other than in a 69 pace car where it wasnt an option but mandatory.

I think I have only seen one other Cuda with than Orange and black color combo seat. Pretty cool and I would think pretty rare. Nice car.
