Neat car with good documentation, but $40K?

Woj 03-19-2024 03:06 PM

Very neat car, but that will be an expensive restoration.

JRSully 03-19-2024 10:03 PM

Looks like the sun baked that one pretty good

Ryan1969Chevelle 03-20-2024 12:03 AM

It’s got Dan’s seal of approval:-)

Nice car!!! B90 trim would help it a lot!!

It needs more help than B90 trim could provide, Ryan :haha:

Rixls6 03-20-2024 11:56 AM

Interesting car that seems very original, but 40k is over the top for a low horse, 3-speed, car.

Too Many Projects 03-20-2024 02:52 PM

I'm surprised the rarity of the SS post cars isn't on the same price level as a hardtop, or more. If this was a hardtop, I suspect it would have sold by now. If it was a convertible it would be considered a steal...:hmmm:

Not for $40K.

There was just a triple black 69 ss396 convertible on marketplace around my area with small block in it that needed restored for $12,500 my wife tried to get me to go buy it but i just couldn’t add another project to my list.

chevyman0429 03-21-2024 12:09 AM

Ill be curious to see where this car ends up on price. A friend reached out to the seller and was told the reserve is $25k if it goes that high ill be listing my fathom green ss396 post car!

Well it hit its reserve crazy money !

Bill Pritchard 03-26-2024 09:34 PM

I guess my running, driving, zero rust Post Sedan was a real bargain then!

Pro Stock John 03-27-2024 02:27 AM

Your silver post is a nice car. Maybe a little bit of a deal but I think it's that some folks are getting carried away bidding on that car on eBay. Looks like it would be at least 40 grand to restore the car on eBay assuming it needs a lot of body work.

Yes it was Bill. And don't forget the fresh M20 as well as the clutch, which caused a few problems. [email protected]

chevyman0429 03-27-2024 10:26 PM

Will it exceed the $25,000 bid ?

BLACKLS5 03-27-2024 10:34 PM

I'm guessing the winning bidder bails out.

You think it's a shill ?

Pro Stock John 03-27-2024 11:15 PM

44 minutes left on the auction....

chevyman0429 03-27-2024 11:59 PM

$25,000 it is! I still think thats crazy money for 325 horse car.

chevyman0429 03-28-2024 12:17 PM

Did anyone here Bid on this car ?

69 Post Sedan 03-28-2024 01:09 PM

$25k is definitely on the high end but it does retain it’s original drivetrain. Plus, there are currently only 77 in the registry.

With that being said…..I better up the insurance on mine.

Kurt

chevyman0429 03-28-2024 01:45 PM

Yea makes me want to list mine but on the flip side ill never get the chance to own one again.

chevelleheart 03-29-2024 01:10 AM

That is nuts …so I really doubt the new bar is like a $100,000 after restoration for a 69 2 door post 325 hp car ?

69 Post Sedan 03-29-2024 01:14 AM

Quite a few years ago, I believe Jeff L. ‘69 Post Sedan sold for around $70k and it was a non numbers matching 3-speed car. Someone correct me if I’m wrong. But it was a top notch restoration with no expense spared.

Kurt

SuperNovaSS 03-29-2024 03:52 AM

The eBay car was a 3 speed too right?

Kurt

You are correct Kurt, it sold to Bruce B's friend (Dave Lindsley??) out in CA, who passed away a few years ago. The car has been for sale now for a looooooong time, starting out (IIRC) at $115K and the latest I've seen is now down to around $90K. It's a Canadian-built car, sold new at Berger Chevrolet, so it's well documented, but as you say non-original engine and non-original 3 speed trans.

ruralrte66 04-03-2024 08:17 PM

I Love This Car, Have always wanted one. Dont want another project at my age. And the 40 buy in price.

chevyman0429 04-03-2024 09:50 PM

I expected it to turn back up for sale! What will it sell for this time?

combinefixer 04-22-2024 07:38 PM

Bid to $18,811, no sale 4/13. Relisted and bid to $17,150, no sale 4/20. Current relist bid to $5600 & change.

Bill Pritchard 04-22-2024 07:46 PM

You would think the seller might have got the message by now....

This is a 300 hard top I finished about 11 years ago. Same color combo as this SS396 car, glacier blue, white painted top. It has a 427 (originally a 307) and factory air. I wanted something odd ball.

Rixls6 04-24-2024 10:22 AM

Great looking car Woj. You do some pretty neat things with the rides you get.

BJCHEV396 04-24-2024 02:40 PM

Wow,very nice Woj!
