Does this stamp look to be original thanks

TimG 11-30-2019 12:11 PM

Is part of the VIN missing?

ssl78 11-30-2019 01:53 PM

No i blurred it out until i get the car. Just wondering how the rest of it looks

TimG 11-30-2019 08:14 PM

The build date is very difficult to see. I don't think that anyone can make a decision based on that picture. Certainly not a "buying" decision. With three digits of the VIN missing, it makes it even more difficult. I imagine that's why your not getting a reply.

---Just me but I'm not sure I like the crooked E. The gang holder wouldn't accept that as you set the pieces with an allen at the end so it theoretically should be square. I guess there is a chance that the E was miscast at an angle I suppose. Tim is correct on his summation though....Bill S

X-2 on the crooked "E" Bill

ssl78 12-01-2019 04:36 AM

I will have to take better pictures when I get the car home. I think the number 2 will be the tell tale it is much different then most 2s, after the top bend it goes slightly straight before turning again. I have only seen it on later stamps

TimG 12-01-2019 12:08 PM

Please hold off on a purchase until you can get better pictures. Too many guys get bad news after the fact and it ruins their day.

TimG 12-01-2019 12:24 PM

I sent you a PM.

ssl78 12-01-2019 01:30 PM

Sent one back

Enoch 12-01-2019 04:42 PM

First it's so hard from a picture so take that into consideration. Crooked JE looks like artificial aging And the beach Mark's don't look consistently parallel to the crank

nova67 12-02-2019 01:41 AM

engine stamp

John....I dont care for the stamp either. As NCRS would say not typical.

1903USMCUnertl 12-02-2019 12:45 PM

Is it possible to get a pic from as straight on as possible? I'm wondering if the gang stamped numerals are aligned but stamped at an angle relative to the pad.

ssl78 12-02-2019 02:42 PM

When I get the car home this weekend I will clean the pad and take better pictures.

ssl78396 12-03-2019 06:10 AM

Here's a nice original to compare take notice correct stamping and very visible broach marks!

ssl78 12-03-2019 10:52 AM

Every plant has its own stamps so to compare a Nova stamp to a Corvette stamp doesnt matter. The same plants could have changed through out the year, so comparing to yours would be of no value

Steve Shauger 12-03-2019 01:53 PM

The Tonawanda assembly & application stamping should consistent in that time period/date!

TimG 12-03-2019 02:19 PM

On Corvettes I believe they had a separate gang set up for each build code. A Tonnawanda built 390, 400, and 435 built on the same day could have different type numbers. For example I collect 390 horse stamps built on May 3rd, 1967 (T0503IL) because I have a car with an unusual stamp from that day. A T0503JE or T0503JC stamp may use slightly different 0's, 3's or 5's.

Went and got the car yesterday cleaned the pad. The stamp looks much better the E is not crooked the camera shot makes it look crooked. The car has its original drive train

John,

Congrats! I am sure you will have lots of enjoyment with your new '67 Vette.
You have come a long way from "Mother`s Worry" :)
I look forward to seeing your Corvette.

Dan

A 1967 Corvette, 435 HP, Side Pipes, Roadster. Priceless. She’s beautiful. Congratulations Rob

TimG 12-07-2019 09:02 PM

Congratulations, Rob. Sunfire yellow is my favorite color. I put 30 miles on my Sunfire yellow '67 today, that color really attracts attention.

Enoch 12-07-2019 11:36 PM

Congratulations, great looking car!!
Looks like you have to update the cars on your signature :)

nova67 12-08-2019 01:45 AM

67 435

John... any history on the car? How about options. Looks nice! Tom

ssl78 12-08-2019 02:22 AM

Thanks every one this is my first C2 so do not know much about them. Tom all I know is it is supposed to be a 3 owner car, the guy I bought it from owned it over 20 years. He was a collector of higher end cars like Ferraris and Porsches. I dealt with his son in Irvington NY. because his dad was selling off his collection and I think his dad was from conneticut.
The car has 80k miles everything is original with the nicest original interior right down to carpet except one repaint before he got the car. The car is pretty much a standard option car and it did come with a hardtop. The son is trying to see what other paper work his dad has.

Mr.Nickey Nova 12-08-2019 02:00 PM

Nice car John!! Like the color, can't wait to see it... I'm sure you will be driving it all next summer.

SupremeDeluxe 12-08-2019 03:45 PM

John,

Nice looking car. Let me know if you need any small parts, I have some left after the 400 and the 435. I don't have any 427 Corvettes currently and no plans to get any more, my interest is L-79's and L-76's now.

Don't worry about the pad, drive it hard like I drove the red 435.

Nick

ssl78 12-08-2019 06:40 PM

Thanks Mark and Nick I will let you know if I need anything.
I just noticed on Ebay there is a 0525JE engine for sale the vin is about 400 before mine. The cast date of both blocks is C217 and the heads on the one on Ebay are D17 and mine one is D17 the other is D11 7.

TimG 12-08-2019 07:38 PM

That block and stamp are nice. The correct stamps in the 19000 VIN range all have unique characteristics.

67 435

John ....send me a pic of the trim tag by email. I helped a friend aquire a 67 435 coupe sold in Dundee new.I helped him restore it when I was in Ca. Its a very special car and is now a Top Flight NCRS car. Tom

Enoch 12-08-2019 09:25 PM

I cut my teeth restoring 5-6 and 7 big blocks. If you have any questions regarding body, hardware or parts you aren't sure about send me a pm I'd be glad to help you know if its original/typical assembly line correct.

firstgenaddict 12-30-2019 11:18 PM

COLOR ME ENVIOUS!
BOLT ON'S and Side Pipes with a L71 in Sunflower Yellow with white top...
Congratulations... it is GORGEOUS!

ssl78 12-31-2019 01:54 PM

Thanks, just got it going since it hasnt been used a lot. I had to rebuild brakes, carbs and tune it up. There is notrhing better than a car thats never been apart drives great with no rattles.

olredalert 12-31-2019 01:57 PM

----John,,,Had a twin back in Classic Motors days except the interior was white. Had 456 gears and light flywheel from racing days and was a beast. Sold to Jim Krughoff one of our best customers. Always thought it was a cool combo.
----Are the bolt-ons original or repops?.....Bill S

ssl78 12-31-2019 02:13 PM

They are Western put on before the repops were made.

ssl78 06-23-2020 07:05 PM

I just found out my Corvette was in New Hampshire a couple of owners ago in the mid 90s. I just wonder if any one remembers it?
