Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
OMG
"PeteLeathersac" here on sYc gave me a tip on a local car...........NOT A CHEVELLE!!!!! Thanks "Pete" this came about mid meek and by mid day today my new car was in my garage. (My head is still spinning........) I am now the proud owner of a Barn Find/Project: 1969 Model Number: 33677 Cutlass 'S' 2dr Club Coupe (Post Sedan/2 Door Post) The colour is 57-57 Glade Green The interior is 930 Blak Strato Bucket Seats, no console:-) The hood stripes were 10 Ebony Black back in day The options are: A51 Seat: Front Bucket B32 Mats: Front Floor B33 Mats: Rear Floor B90: Molding: Door & window frame B93: Molding Chrome door edge FE2: Suspension system: ride and handling G80: Raer axle: Positraction (Limited slip differential) G92: Rear axle 3.42:1 ratio Heavy Duty M20: transmission 4=speed manual - wide ratio N10: Dual exhaust P80: Tire: F78 X 14 Fiberglass belted whitewall V02: Radiator: heavy duty V48: Engine coolant - Increased protection (Antifreeze) W31: W-Machine Package, Force Air Rocket 350 V8 W84: Aditional Fuel for delivery Y73: Appearance option, Hood special paint. The options are very cool, but that is just the beginning..........This car was purchased new locally and I became the second owner at noon today!!!!!!!! The original owner and I are now best friends!! The OO and his wife, daughter, and granddaughter all welcomed me to their home and sent me away with a car I will cherish. (I will check if they are willing to go public or stay private soon) The OO sat down with the order/option book at the local dealer and ordered this car exactly as you see it here, he wanted a sleeper and even tried really hard to delete the hood stripes but was unable to. They had the car oiled and drove it one full year including winter, then for four summers he drove it(he used winter beaters to protect his W31). The car has been in his garage or storage facility literally since 1974ish. The OO put a "Kicker Clutch" in it as well as a short straight handle on the Hurst shifter, he smiled from ear to ear as he explained how he could floor it, and pull on the shifter between gears, and KICK the clutch for a half a heartbeat to change gears:-) He took it to a local track at least once for time trials and his times were approx 14.2 seconds. He also put air shocks in the back and says they still hold air. He put a Dixco(sp?)tach on the hood back in the day as he didn't want the tach from Olds as he said it was inside the clock, he called it a "tick tach". He only drilled the one hole, he didn't need to drill the extra holes for screws:-) When we went inside to write up a bill of sale today the family provided me with enough documentation to choke a Canadian horse!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bill of sale, POP, warranty booklet, and on and on, and on!!!!! I am so excited to have found this car very close to home and plan to keep the family up to speed on the progress as this old girl comes back from hibernation to the road. This really is a dream come true for me, and I plan to enjoy my new car as we (Father and Son) repair and restore and bring her back to driver condition. During agonizing over this car a few nights ago my son asked if he could help work on the car........(tear)......he tipped the scales with Momma!!!!!!!! So I guess I am an Oldsmo-vrolet guy now..........and proud of it!!!!!!!!!!!! Ryan PS - LOTS more pics to come! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-dsc_3273.jpg |

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
WOW!!! WAY COOL RYAN!!! Glad to have another Olds guy in the mix. PM me and let me know if there is anything I can help you with or if you need parts you might need. Olds stuff can be challenging to find and can get pricey due to availability. Congrats!

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Ryan is very lucky that is Olds Post Sedan is very complete - having most all it's original hard to find parts

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
I have to check on the exact date but (I think 1969-70) the original engine failed, Al said the oil pump pick up came loose and the engine starved of oil on the 401...............dead duck. Under warranty GM put a new W31 short block in the car, that is what is in the trunk.
Al said when they ordered GM Vintage services paper work the person knew the car had had a warranty engine replaced. I will follow up on this to get whatever documentation can be provided. The trunk pan and floor pans look very solid. I have yet to look really closely:-) https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...4-dsc_3168.jpg |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
This was her home for several years.
The blocks under the wheels were so people looking at the car could get under with a creeper and look at the underside...........They mentioned that a few people looked at her and passed OMG.........OOPSY!!!!! Ryan https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-dsc_3170.jpg |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Lots of boxes of parts, shifter, distributor, interior pieces, trim pieces, grille pieces, chicken fingers, original spare tire, RAM ROD Breather assembly, you name it!!!!
Al mentioned he will check all the nooks and crannies of his garage and anything from the car goes with the car!!!!! My new "bestie" is a great guy!!! Ryan https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-dsc_3174.jpg |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Big congrats to you and your son Ryan, nice to see everything came together today! Scoring original owner W-Post cars in minus 25-C weather may be some kind of record but either way, it's just so great how the stars lined up and everything turned out like all was simply meant to be! The original owner Al and his wife are indeed super people but like I mentioned as the deal came about, finding the right home for the car was important too. Congrats again Ryan and like others here, I'll be looking forward to lots of updates/details/pictures! ~ Pete |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
The last picture shows an extra transmission that came with the car. The shifter box is Hurst parts, but Al said the car came with a Hurst shifter. There is a bench seat Hurst shifter handle in the box so it seems to make sense.

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
I assume this was some kind of Canadian Happy Dance!! (No twerking:-)
If you are reading this from the sunny south it was minus 27C feels like minus 37C......I was warm at Al's as I was jumping around using the jack, etc, but when we got back home I was frozen solid in about 10 minutes:-( Ryan https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-dsc_3183.jpg |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Here is the straight handle Hurst shifter:-)
Felt pretty good as the winch pulled me up the tilt/load ramp, I flat-shifted into second a few times, and did some vroom vroom sounds:-) Ryan https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...9-dsc_3206.jpg |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
I will find out the timing/dates as I piece together the cars history but recently Al and Lynn's daughter set up to do automotive training classes with the W31 and Al bought an extra 350 Olds, and trans to install as part of this class. before they got the car running again the class came to an end so the car was transported home just before trying to run it:-( The 3 inch stainless exhaust with X crossover was installed with headers as part of this effort.

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Talking about all the fun Al had with his W31 back in the day.
I am a list guy, Dan Vasic sent me about 15 E-mails with W31 content so I could prepare for pick up day, every question was answered with, nope the original is on the car, or nope the original is in a box:-) Al is still looking for the jack, etc. Ryan https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...1-dsc_3225.jpg |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
