Our Cars Birthday- Born Date

This is a new thread where you post pictures of your cars on their born, production or delivery date. Post pics of your car in the month it was produced!

My car was born today 3/16/69 at the Norwood assembly plant (according to the GM assembly records). It's amazing on 6/19/1999 I will have owned the car 25 years!

Great idea for a thread-ours was born tomorrow (03/17/70) on St. Patricks Day. Didn't realize that until now. I think I'll raise a pint of Guiness tonight in it's honor!

Mine was final-assembled at Norwood on March 6th, 1969. By coincidence I “met” the car - flew out to see it before buying - on March 5th (2020). So March is Camaro month at our house :beers:

Great looking cars!
I am the 2nd owner of a mostly original loaded '68 396 SS/RS that I first purchased in '86 and is an 09C car.
It was purchased on 11/14/67 from Charles Smith Chevrolet in Florence, SC. (Zone 16 Dealer Number 704). I have the POP and early service records.

How do you determine the exact born on date? Thanks

1967 4K 03-16-2024 08:30 PM

Exact date

The NCRS shipping data report states the plant production date.I’d call that its official birthday.

Those look like radir wheels.

They are 15x6 Cragar GT+ wheels. I have the original January '67 DF wheels too.

Thanks, being that I knew the original owner (I kept in contact with him for 3 years before he decided to sell it to me), have the POP, and know the dealership it was purchased from I just don't see anything else I could glean from buying the NCRS report other than the estimated born on date.

ZAPPER68 03-17-2024 04:07 AM

Last September I sold my '69 428 SCJ 4 speed Ranchero. It's born date was June 11th 1969, my Dad's 50th birthday.

Our 67 L-35 was born on 3-3-67. The original delivery dealer was Gibson Chevrolet in Leadville, CO. The car was sold at Central Chevrolet Co. in Grand Junction, CO. on 7-7-67.

I have way too many vehicles to remember all their birthdays.

Except for one- the Tripower 4-speed GTO that rolled out of the factory doors in Pontiac MI in 1965 on the same day as I was born.

DougA 03-18-2024 01:01 PM

My 70 Chevelle LS-5 GM official production day was Feb. 2nd, Groundhog day, in Baltimore.
The original delivery dealer was Baldwin Auto Co. Inc., Baldwin, NY.

This is a fun idea for a thread, and one that should have new posts often.

But, I think a few members here are missing the point of the thread, and might have missed the one requirement for posting their vehicle. See below....

I don't think Steve was looking for everyone to just post your car on any random day and/or date, and then "tell" everyone when your production date was.

Steve Shauger 03-18-2024 07:27 PM

This thread should include cars built in there designated month. Presently we are in March so ideally cars built/born in the month of March. In 14 days, April will arrive and post cars built in April. It's not a strict rule but helps organize cars built in their month. This will be an ongoing thread so everyone's cars will be listed. You can list both past and present cars you've owned.

Steve Shauger 03-18-2024 09:00 PM

Here's a 3B built Yenko I previously owned.

My old '67 Camaro 327 plain jane I bought from the original owner. Original paint and interior. Built new on 3-19-67 and sold new through Washburn Chevrolet in Santa Barbara, CA. Probably the best car I have ever owned. It was babied it's whole life and drove like a brand new car. The doors opened and closed like a dream.

Thanks Mitch! Appreciate it. I am fortunate to live next to an airport community (C77 for all you pilots) and they have a cool museum complex on the grounds that makes for a great photo backdrop when needed.

According to the NCRS report the Camaro was born 55 years ago today on March 21st, 1969. Not sure how long it took for the car to make it to the dealer but it was sold on July 7th.
