Love that old school paint job.
The custom paint & bodywork would cost $50K+ today. |
Re: BM Vette on Ebay.?
I’m a little surprised that this car has been discussed on this site for a number of months now and many of the important questions about it have yet to be brought up.
Is this an LS5/LS6/(LS7!)? Does it have its born-with motor (unlikely as March/70 is too early for this ’71)? Where are the pictures of the engine/trans stampings? Why have we never seen a picture of the tach? The car was represented on this site as having a Motion-installed overdrive yet there is no indication of this on the invoice. The tank sticker would answer some of these question as well as verifying its initial delivery to Baldwin. HP2 (Dale) assured us he would post a picture of the tank sticker… it has apparently been left on the tank and bolted back into place. BTW, the ebay ad says the tank was reattached by the former owner’s brother (Dale); then in answer to a question on the issue says it was done by “Corey”. ??? When asked for a picture of the POP, the response was, “its in the shot of the invoice”. Not exactly forthcoming, in my opinion. Where is the window sticker we were told existed? HP2 was clearly informed on this site that the best way to verify this car’s heritage was through Joel Rosen (I’m quite sure this would be one of his easier calls). This move would probably be the best investment the present owner could have made. Apparently, the sellers of this car intend to use the “original invoice” as the sole basis of the car’s legitimacy. I know it would take a lot more than the B/M invoice to convince me of the authenticity of this car. Does anyone know of any B/M documents that can be used for comparison purposes? BTW, I think the car is cool and could very well be real, but more should have been done to back up its legacy. We all know things are not always what they are represented to be. Witness the current ebay listing for a 1969 “documented” L88 Corvette, complete with AC, power windows, “original drivetrain”, etc. (I guess when you spend $175,000 on a restoration, they throw that stuff in with it!). |
Re: BM Vette on Ebay.?
Ron,
If you are interested in the car you should call the number in the ad. I'm sure that would answer many of your questions. Maybe the former owner had more than one brother. I too would like to know more history on the car but I am not a buyer. Maybe the new owner will be nice enough to share the history. Jason |
Re: BM Vette on Ebay.?
The present owner has posted about this car numerous times. My point is that these questions have not been voluntarily addressed in the past. There is often more to be discerned from what is NOT said than what is. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Re: BM Vette on Ebay.?
Point taken. The owner would come here, ask questions, then not reply to questions that were asked. I imagine the car is real. Maybe getting the letter from Joel is difficult since the estate does not want to pay the fee? The aluminum head thing is interesting. Why not start with a LS6 car? Were 71 LS6 Vettes available with A/C? I doubt it but am not sure.

Re: BM Vette on Ebay.?
Jason,
To my knowledge, no LS6 cars came with A/C; I was wondering if the car would have been turned into an LS6 or LS7 by Motion before selling it. Does it seem right that B/M would charge 12.5K for a car and not show the itemized costs for their enhancements? Do other B/M invoices follow this procedure? You are right about the aluminum head thing; no mention of 074s on the invoice. They wouldn’t have been stock on this A/C car. All the more reason Joel’s input would be invaluable (an investment that would reap immediate dividends); pretty hard to do an accurate restoration without the answer to these questions. Ray |
Re: BM Vette on Ebay.?
Also, weren’t there a few posts that claimed this invoice in question has an address for B/M that they actually were not at until sometime later than the date shown??
Can’t quite remember that detail and that particular thread has been deleted from the Supercar database. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif |

He is my bill of sale from 1968. No breakdown on this either. Maybe because it is a Baldwin invoice. Mr. Bean still signs & dates the same way though. https://www.yenko.net/attachments/353...winb.ofs.2.JPG https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif |
Re: BM Vette on Ebay.?
Look i didnt put this on this forum and mr L88vetteron either stop talking trash or come look at the car or shut the hell up.

Re: BM Vette on Ebay.?
WOW. I was trying to defend you earlier. Rather than telling Ron to "shut the hell up," why don't you answer the questions he posted? There are a lot of real buyers that frequent this website. It would be in the estates best interest to be civil. You said you didn't put ths on this forum. You actually posted the car here months ago without a price. You asked a lot of questions and only answered questions when you wanted to. It would only take a few minutes to answer the questions that have been asked here. It may peak interest in the car that shyed away before due to the apparent secretism. As I said before, I am not a buyer. It just seems to me, it would be much more polite to ask Ron to PM you privately than say "shut the hell up." Politeness goes a long way. I hope the car breaks the bank and I am sorry for your loss.

Re: BM Vette on Ebay.?
Wow, a sad turn of communication and I apologize for posting the link to the sale if it has created more misery than help.
My communication with the seller clearly indicated that he was neither a car guy nor an internet guy (no disrespect Dale)and it was only my intention to help get the word out on this significant piece of history. Those in the know and in a position to buy have already done their due diligence in regards to this automobile. I myself made a few phone calls even though I am not a buyer. I am in complete bewilderment as to how a sibling of mine would handle the care of my children if my wife and I were to pass tragically. The fact that I would also leave additional assorted vehicles of unknown value and no use to them except for the maximum available dollar would just complicate the primary care mission that was thrust upon them. I am not going to pass judgment on anyone's comments especially if they have legit questions, but there is a phone number listed on the auction for answers. Give this guy a break for Gods sake!! I would never want to be in his shoes. Good Luck Dale. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: BM Vette on Ebay.?
great car, I'd be a bidder if I had the money, but I don't, not right now. Wouldn't have bought the three cars in my garage right now if I knew this was becoming available.
The invoice for this car is a xerox, and its not in sequence from the 1968 car, which is no big deal, the invoices in my insurance office are not always in sequence either. It would be nice if it was the original paper invoice. The regi for NYS looks right compared to the ones I have. This car looks legit, it would be nice to see the original docs. Spot on Docs would be great and would help with your cause. Peace. Dude, I wish I had the coin, I have a brand new Hone-O-Drive and a really nice ls-6 and a torker manifold looking for a home like this. |

The invoice for this car........ not in sequence from the 1968 car [/ QUOTE ] They must have gotten a new pad of car invoices when they dropped the "Corvair" logo from the upper left corner. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif Also, the first pad pre-dates the use of Zip Codes. |

Re: BM Vette on Ebay.?
I would hope that most us here have updated wills with specific addendums attached as to what their cars are worth, where they are & who might help sell them should something tragic happen. If not, get r done https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif

Yesterday a neighbor of mine had a stroke. He is 42 and paralized and cant speak. He has several cars and boats, three small kids and was in perfect health. I am praying he recovers. |
