Ann and I test drove a black '09 6.1 SRT8 Hemi/manual last Wednesday. It was a very nice car and rode very nicely but did not turn us on in the way we had hoped. The 425 hp was there and pulled quite hard but you did not feel it like you did back in '70 (which is maybe not a bad thing). The salesmen could not believe we were not as impressed with the power of the car like everyone else was. Then I took one of them for a ride in the '02 ZL-1 and made him understand better though admittedly it was not fair to compare 425 hp with 600 hp. Overall it was an extremely nice car with looks to match, just not worth the $46k it would have cost us pre tax.

No, they were selling at sticker price. The idiot salesman did nothing but complain about their dismal sales and then told me I would have to pay sticker price. NOT! Especially not on a fully loaded car.
It was too bad as we were invisioning painting on the early style HEMI billboard striping which would have looked awesome on a Red/Green or Orange '09. |

Yea that's crazy selling at sticker price. I am getting mine at invoice, which still allows the dealer to make some money because he is not eating his hold back.
That's alittle unfair to compare an 02 ZL-1 done by GMMG to a stock Challenger even if is an SRT8. We purchased one to do some r&d work on. Next week we are installing a cam,cai,and headers. I will post the numbers up before and after. Then comes the kenne belle blower.

I have to admit I like it alot also. I'm going to get either the Camaro or the Challenger next year for my daily driver and at this point I think I like the Challenger more. I have only seen pics of the Camaro, so it's not a fair comparisson at this point on time...

AND THEY TOLD ME I HAD STICKER, ARE NOW CALLING AND EMAILING ME WITH MUCH BETTER OFFERS. I AM WAITING TO SEE THE CAMARO ALSO BUT I DO LIKE THE ALL BLACK SRT WITH PISTOL SHIFTER, AND IF YOU CHECK THE DODGE MAILER THAT THEY SENT ME YOU CAN ADD SOME REAL NEAT OPTIONS A TA TYPE HOOD A GO WING WHICH I LIKE THE STOCK SPOILER BETTER AND A BODY DECAL KIT KIND OF LOOK LIKE THE RT STRIPE I PERFERED IT WITH OUT IT. I've seen the silver prototype camaro in person, and I stopped by the local dodge dealer this weekend to check out a few R/T's they had on the lot. The challenger does look better to me. I asked about the price on the challenger, and he said a little over 40!!! I was like do you think I'm an idiot? Thats SRT8 money for a regular R/T. I told them I was interested in a white R/T 6 speed, but not for what they wanted for it.

When the tree dropped, the BS stopped and I was the first at the finish line. Of course that was also the personal best that the car has run...13.26. Its unreal how they respond to a good set of heads and a bigger cam. My friends 02 T/A just got some more work done to it at Vengeance Racing in ATL. 451 rwhp with a 228/230 cam, fast intake, full exhaust, and a set of TEA heads. Wow, I saw a 2009 white R/T Challenger with a black leather roof and 5 spoke wheels (20"), and it looked better than any one I have seen yet.
The black leather roof just set it off like it was 1970 again. Got a pic with my phone, will try to post. |

that was custom done not factory. No vinyl top as an option... as are those wheels. Obviously that car was modified

NOW that's a musclecar! They look great and resemble their ancestors alot more than the new Camaros. You could remove every "Challenger" emblem from that car and everyone would still know what it is even though they are still very new in the world. Now that's identity recognition.

On Monday the dealership here in Greenville (Big O) had a del. of six Challengers of which three are the SRT8. Went last night to check them out. As the wife and me were walking into the showroom I noticed smoke coming out of the A/C duct, talk about salesmen scrambling to get those cars out of there! Fire dept shows up with half the police department. Electrical fire in ducting (second fire this month). While all this was excitement was happening I got to look over all of the cars without being bugged by any if the salesmen. Mark up 5K over sticker.
