Re: Cars to watch at Barrett Jackson
John:
I took a quick look at the first two days of cars running through the auction and it looks more like a Kruse Auction than BJ. I suppose they're going to try and tell everyone again that they "hand-picked" these cars for entry level collectors. What a bunch of crap. Most of the cars listed are not collectible. Once again, like all auction companies, they sell whatever shows up. Tonight's Speed coverage should be very interesting if nothing else for the live descriptions. Anyway, in answer to your question, unfortunately, I couldn't find anything. I'll go back to loking. I'm sure it will get more interesting as the week progresses. Ed |

Re: Cars to watch at Barrett Jackson
Forgot my camera in the car.......The first couple of hours were all cars in the $10,000 range......a couple of real deals went thru ....72 Olds Cutlass Convert lousy color (Gold) , but a very nice car went for around $8200.....a 64 ElCamino White with a 406 for around the same price.......Then comes along a Nash Metropolitan that went for $40,000 and an Isetta for $41,000.....go Figure..
Bumped into Charley, seen Cana and Colin driving around in a Golf Cart, Mike and Stefano walked past The GM cars ..........Hummm!!......Some are pretty nice and some are just so, so.....Most are sold without a Valid Title and are deemed not Highway Legal.... I'll remember my camera today......and I'll take some Pic's of the Nickey Nova that the Chevy Connection has ....gonna be Interesting to see what Stefano has to say about the Doc's........ Ken |

Re: Cars to watch at Barrett Jackson
We were out the door to see the Clint flick but i had just enough time to set my VCR and watch one car go through. It was a black 69 L78 Camaro with TA's and alledged to have born in driveline and "pedigree" or "provenance" Car looked decent and it went for 39k https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif
Was it "well bought"? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif |

I sent it to Grand Cayman in the late 90's and it came back up and disappeared after the 2004 hurricane.... |

Re: Cars to watch at Barrett Jackson
Charley..I know at least 3 guys on the Southside who'd cut you for saying that. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smirk.gif
|
Re: Cars to watch at Barrett Jackson
and on the southwest side of chicago they would cut you 4 ways (foways) for saying that about an 85 olds..
as my old neighbor would say the 4 ways are upways downways sideways and frequently... and to be honest, this was stolen from the southside... |

Yes Less than half last years value??????????? PJ |
Re: Cars to watch at Barrett Jackson
all I could see on the camaro was a supposid picture of a vin on the block when I watched it on the speedchannel. did not see a buildsheet on the camaro, but on the l78 nova, yes that one had a buildsheet.
I think prices are pretty good, except for the black camaro. I liked the black zr1 vette with the hydraulic suspension. too bad about all the wierd titles on the GM cars. does not look like we are in a recession from the show from what i can tell. |
Re: Cars to watch at Barrett Jackson
Any 67 Z's going across. I would be interested in what they go for and the thought of the cars that sell.

Also, a 90 Corvette ZR1 with 2500 miles for $60K? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif Two similar ones in HMN this month for half that. |
Re: Cars to watch at Barrett Jackson
What do the "high" prices say about the buyers or the cars.
Is it just a fact that regardless of hard times and the country in the midst of a recession, there is and always will be inept, uneducated buyers with large egos and wallets full of stupid money. |
Re: Cars to watch at Barrett Jackson
No 67 Z's that I've seen at either BJ or Russo...

Re: Cars to watch at Barrett Jackson
Hi, I'm fairly new to this website, but been around and well established on other brother websites. My name is Tim(Yankit)and I'd enjoy meeting any members whom are at BJ... Charlie came by and shook my hand at last years BJ and I got to thank him for advise and help purchasing a survivor IPC I bought. I just find it so interesting that society today is so quick to run someone down or look at the negative especially when they don't know what there even talking about...? When you make comments like CamarosRus does what good is expected to come out of it and whom benefits...really no different than our news media does by always telling us how bad off we are in the economy if they'd actually start to say something good once in a while we might actually turn peoples mind set around and get peoples confidence back to really give this economy cooking again. Not looking to start any battles just want to meet some positive members that are willing to help one another rather than stab them in the back. I'll be working in the booth for the Chev Connection in the main BJ inside big tented area and find it to be a blast to help out during the week so stop by and say Hi, I'd enjoy meeting you all down here....I wish everyone has the opportunity to attend one of these events they are really worth coming to atleast once in your life and I bet you'd be hooked too!

Re: Cars to watch at Barrett Jackson

good luck and welcome to the nut house....wilma |

[/ QUOTE ] Chuck. Because the buyers don't have the same tastes in cars as you do, doesn't mean they are stupid, inept etc. There are many people that could care less about #'s matching. Are they wrong ? I don't think so. Looks to me like people have come to have a great time and buy a car that they like. There is another world besides our #'s match world. So maybe someone pays 5K more for a car. They don't need to waste months of their time scouring ads, looking at junk etc. They come here and see it all in one place and buy something they like. It doesn't mean they are uneducated or inept. My take on the auction is the quality of our type car is way down because of no reserve but people are still paying big dough for cars. Sitting here you wouldn't know there was a recession. These are just not the caliber of cars that used to be here. |
