I might have found a BM 69 Vette

So where do I go from here?? It is a 69 427 tri-power car but it has a LOT of the BM features. It's not a Maco. It has the flares, Western wheels, Lemans cap, window, etc. The front glass has been swapped out due to an accident. It has been off of the road for many years and I found it under a back porch of a house near me. It is for sale for $15,000 with it;s matching number 427, tri-power, trans, etc. Can anyone tell me step by step how I would go about IDing the car as a REAL Baldwin Motion car??

PICTURES would help.

If you feel that strongly about it being a Motion car get with Joel and pay his fee to get it certified

what color is it

Re: I might have found a BM 69 Vette

It's currently a non-factory Maroon but it has been painted from the original color. I have not been able to take pics yet but will in a day or two. That's one of the things I'm trying to learn here with my question. What do I look for. What can I document from the car itself?

Re: I might have found a BM 69 Vette

i'm no expert,but here a a few things.
-is the rear window slanted?
-front headlights like a jaguar?
-fly eye air cleaner?
-phase III electronic ignition?
-electric fuel pump up under near gas tank?
-side gills facing in or out?
-does it have an open hood scoop?
-how about an extra "shift handle" off the passenger side hump tunnel?
-any "stickers?
-how about any 427/SS emblems?
-single traction bar connected to middle rear end?
-any baldwin chevrolet dealer emblem?

all these do not make it a true motion car done by joel , they could have been done outside of "motion performance"

-the ONLY WAY to verify if it is a true "MOTION "car is to pay the big bucks to joel !!
if it is, then it will be worth it !
mean time send pics, cant wait to see!
for your sake i hope it is !!

Re: I might have found a BM 69 Vette

Would all of the 69 cars had the slanted rear windows? I've seen some that do and some that don't but they may be later year models.

Re: I might have found a BM 69 Vette

no, they dont, nor do they all have the jag headlights either.
nor all the above mentioned items. they were made using a lot of the above items, but to customer specs., no two the same.
also, these items were sold thru a catalog so you could mail order these items, put them on yourself, or by someone else and come up with a car that looks like a motion vette.
that is one reason why to prove if it a "real motion" made car is to check with joel.
the vette i'm doing as some "motion" parts on it, but i am putting everything on myself.
thus only a "tribute/clone/what i like" motion vette.
will not have the value of a REAL motion !!!

pics will help, there are a lot of motion knowlegdeable guys on this site and i'm sure they can give better insight than me !

Re: I might have found a BM 69 Vette

Yeah, that's true. The ONLY thing that has me thinking "maybe" is that the modifcations I was able to see in the brief period I looked at the car looked fantastic. Having lived through the 70's and worked at a Vette shop for a while I've seen my fair share of crappy flares. These look like they were born on the car. I would love to know from someone who has or has seen a real BM Vette if the flares look as good on the inside as they do on the outside on a BM car. These look great. The taillights also look perfectly done. When I was there last I spent my time checking out the drivetrain parts and verifying them. Next trip I am looking for Baldwin Motion evidence. I'll take pics and post them in a day or two.

COOL, CAN'T WAIT. I FORGOT TO ASK, DOES IT HAVE THE FIREBIRD TAILLGHTS?
opps , sorry for the caps!
also, are the flares bigger or smaller?
joe

Re: I might have found a BM 69 Vette

https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gifDoes the car still have factory headlights? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gifWhats the interior look like? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/drool.gifWithout picks & details you may never findout!? Be very cautious with what kind of info you give out here. There are people reading this thread that will do anything to track down the car and buy it out from under you. Tie the car up legally if you can. Good luck.

Re: I might have found a BM 69 Vette

The car is safe and off the radar. It has been wrecked and has a different (1970) front clip on it. I'm going to take pics this weekend.

Re: I might have found a BM 69 Vette

A friend of mine (he passed away recently)bought a 1969 corvette 427 435 l89 with build sheet from out west..had motion flares, gas cap,all the signs were there..ended up that a past owner bought the car new..sent it to motion to be done and repainted gold with black stripes to resemble the pittsburg steelers colors whom he played for..when he contacted the previous owner he told him his cousin at the same time sent his 427 435 hp corvette to be done also..but in purple..that car is still out there somewhere...ya never know..you can go broke though sending Joel $$$ for docs and come back negative.

Re: I might have found a BM 69 Vette

I looked at the car again today and I'm prety convinced it is NOT a BM car, only a customized 69. But it still is a matching numbers 427/435 car.

Re: I might have found a BM 69 Vette

Yes, of course I can. I hate it when someone talks about a car but never posts pics. I had seen pics of car, the engine and the flares inside and out and the casting numbers but not the whole car. I asked about the taillights and was told that it had the "three taillights" like a BM car and thought he was talking about the Firebird looking taillights. I NEVER dreamed this is what he was talking about. Still, it is impressive to stand there and look at that engine and intake and I still lust for the car even though it is a dog. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

His name was Jeff Lami from Nh...I believe his brother handled the estate and someone bought all the stuff to give the money to his ex-wife and son...I inquired about buying all the motion cars and stuff..but didnt hear back.

Re: I might have found a BM 69 Vette

Even so, if that is indeed a numbers matching 427/435 horse drivetrain, it has to be worth close to the 15K. Wouldn't it?

Re: I might have found a BM 69 Vette

Well, no slant back window or firebird tail lights. Engine bay shows no Motion mods (the L88 wiper door hump is cool, never seen that one before). If the frame isn't rotted/bent still worth the money (as long as your going to restore it. As a Moton clone it would be a money loser).

look for the house with the corvette in the driveway !!
when you find that, you should find the white stucco house on the bend that has a fire hydrent and the mail box that won't stay closed along with the neighbor that has the bench in the front yard!
