What do YOU Like in an Indoor Car Show?

As many of you know, several people have approached me about being involved with the launch of a brand new car show with an emphasis on Supercars and Muscle Cars.

In researching what works and what doesn't work and what people really like, I figured the best place to go to find out is by asking YOU, the true enthusiast.

Please let me know what it is that makes you want to be a part of a show, whether as a participant or as a spectator.

I am committed to continue to "raise the bar" and to be a part of what could become one of the best Muscle and Super Car shows this year, and hopefuly for many years to come.

If you prefer to not post your thoughts on the forum, please feel free to e-mail me directly at [email protected]. (Note; please delete the bashton@autorama e-mail address as I am no longer employed by Championship Auto Shows, Inc.)

Please limit this to show idea's and feedback and let's not turn this into a bash session for any past or present shows.

Also, anyone interested in staying "in the loop" on my future developments, please send me your e-mail address as I need to develop a fresh data base.

THANKS;

Bob Ashton

You're the Pro, Boss. You know what works and what doesn't.

"What would I like in an Indoor Car Show?"

Easy answer; Bob Ashton and the sYc! Everything else is gravy. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

(OK, maybe an indoor go-kart track. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif)

Re: What do YOU Like in an Indoor Car Show?

I'm like Rob. I would rather see a little action too. In the past, at indoor shows, I have noticed that people will crowd around any show display that has a racing video showing. Big video screens with some racing etc. might work. Perhaps having a few celebrity car builders/restorers for people to talk to might be a plus. While I can appreciate the work that goes into restored cars, they are more or less all the same and I have been around them since the mid '60s. Not a lot new there for me. That's not the case for most people though. Race cars brought back to their original racing condition is something that I really like. Stuff like Red Alert and such cars. Each of these are unique. Just some thoughts from an old guy. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif

Better food.

I always thought the McCormick Center was fancy with the nice floors and the white ceilings over the last place. Can you talk them into spraying the ceilings and the floors? 8 years ago every pic I took turned out like a million, now they are a tad gloomy. Thats the only bad I can say about it.

For all those of you who think Bob is the mild mannered gentleman you've come to THINK you know, catch him on the track. "Chuckie" Ashton has no desire to win, or, even pass anyone. His strategy is simple, crash everyone else as they pass him, and, he will be the only one running at the end.

I merely follow the line that the most experienced racer takes, which in this case would be Mr. Comer, and wait for the opportunity to pass. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

Absolutely. I know that Mr. D. can keep us entertained for the next several years just with his extensive collection and maybe with some "peer pressure", we can get a particular Yenko and Supercar Memorabilia collector (cough-cough; Joe..are you listening?) to share some of his incredible stuff.

The list is long, but specific. I would like to align the show with ackowledged and respected groups, especially targeted groups like NNN, Aces etc, (and don't forget, this will be an All Makes show). Any suggestions or input is welcomed.

Other markets are under consideration for future events.

As an FYI, the East Coast is exceptionally expensive to do business in. Major shows in Baltimore, D.C. and Philly have died because of the costs.

There are, however, several places that I would like to host a show. We all know there are surely enough great cars out there!

Bob, you might want to check out the York Convention Center (York, PA)...they have the US 30 Show there every year in early July...plenty of parking and room for about 180 cars. they have several other buildings there...maybe there is room for a larger format. Easy access, near the major highways....just an idea.
