Re: 15,000 surcharge on 2010camaro ss
I had posted about a V6 Camaro by me being listed at $7500 over sticker and the dealer telling me that it was a steal since some dealers were being told to ask $12k or more over sticker. This isnt a surcharge or anything, this is GM telling dealers that they arent going to be getting many of these cars right now so make sure that if they sell them they get as much money as possible.
It makes me kind of mad since they are crying broke, and putting out a car that could be selling like crazy, but instead are turning away customers by telling dealers to ask for more money. It kind of makes me want to go there with 20 grand and put it on the counter and say "I'll tke that red V8 camaro over there, heres 20 grand and you can just forget about paying back my my little portion of that bailout I just gave you" |

Re: 15,000 surcharge on 2010camaro ss
I don't believe GM is telling Dealers anything like that at all. I went to our local Chevy Dealer, Hank Graff in Davison Mich. I drove the 6 banger new Camaro they have. The price is sticker or LESS, depending on what programs, such as employee discout, you as a buyer can use. So the new ones around here are actually LESS than sticker. I will call any Dealership that is saying "charge all you can get". Give me some phone numbers!

Automobile Dealers are independent businesses. In three decades of working in the dealer business, I have never heard a MFGs rep tell or even ask a dealer to sell a car for over MSRP.

Re: 15,000 surcharge on 2010camaro ss
Here in the Chicago suburbs, our local Chevy dealer has a $7000 markup on a red V6 Camaro that just arrived. I didn't know what made me angrier, the markup sticker, or that ridiculous global warming rating next to the window sticker.
I find it amazing that all the only thing that young designers can come up with today is stealing from the past. We now have a Camaro again, with 1969 styling cues (like the console gauges), a Camaro SS, a 427 Corvette, a 1970 Dodge Challenger with a 426 Hemi, a Dodge Charger, a 1968 styled Ford Mustang, Shelby Mustang, etc. Seems like 1968-1970 were the peak years for Musclecars, huh? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif |

Two sold in my county last week for $4000 over sticker the day after they were unloaded off the transport.

Supply and demand determine car prices and this varies in different parts of the country. I don't fault the dealers for trying to make as much money as possible, after all, that what they are in business for. It's up to the buyer to shop around for the best deal at the current time.

Re: 15,000 surcharge on 2010camaro ss
Forget the new Camaro. Take your $30k and buy a nice 1969 Camaro. In 5 years, your 1969 Camaro will still be worth close to the same. How much do you think a 2010 Camaro will be worth in 5 years??

[/ QUOTE ] Yes but, you can't get over 20 mpg along with the improved ride, handling, longer maintenance periods; etc. I think most people considering a new Camaro are looking for a car they can use as a daily driver and still have that essence of the classic Camaro. As much as I love the first generation Camaros I would not want one as my daily driver. |
Re: 15,000 surcharge on 2010camaro ss
What goes around....comes around! One of our local Chevy dealers had a new Camaro with a $5,000 add on.....he just got the letter from the mother ship that his franchise plug has been pulled. GM dealers have the right to appeal the letter and make a case why their dealership should be spared, Chrysler dealers have no such recourse. If they accept the deal GM will take back inventory, parts, etc....once the General files for bankruptcy protection, all bets are off. This is info I got last nite from one of my large Chevy clients.....mean while my Honda guys are doing great https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif
