SCR 12

With the recent scum bag thieves hitting the car shows...will there be around the clock security...as it usually is... at SCR 12. We need to catch one of these low lifes and make an example of his A$$ for the nation to see on national tv. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif

And far less friendly to thieves!

This incident with Pete should have everyone on heightened awareness. Most of us know who belongs with a particular car or tow rig, but there is always some new faces at this event.
PLEASE, EVERYONE; If you see a car or tow rig leaving and don't know the owner, either stop them and ask a question or take note. And NOT just at the hotel. This could just as easily happen at the track on Friday. I can't imagine any one of us getting upset because someone took the time to "care". This is a big family we have here. Watch out for your 'brothers' and 'sisters'! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

Dennis, not only during the SCR, but at any event we attend, at motels, restuarants, etc. Keep an eye on your neighbor's stuff and if something does not look right, check it out.

As per the SCR, we will have security, but I am wondering if we should take it one step forward and help police the event ourselves. I for one would be willing to take a 1-2 hour shift to help police the lot(s).

I'm in for a shift. I never sleep during these events anyway.

Re: SCR 12

Tom, Great idea to take shift patrols. Many amatuer "door slammer" NHRA racers will "circle the wagons" at a given motel and patrol their own overnight.

I will gladly take a shift also and help out with policing the lot.... Let me know.... I think this might be the best idea of all.. I know I would sleep better knowing that a member of the site here is watching my vehicle at night in addition to the security....

Just as an fyi for those that have asked, a Sgt. from the Illinois State Police committed yesterday to security Thur/Fri/Sat night(s), as in previous years...he stated he'd also holler at Collinsville PD and make sure they're aware of what's happening and will maybe keep a watchful eye in the area.

He asked of any special instructions we should go over when we meet Thursday...I'm thinking, during his watch hours, any truck/trailer/show car movement needs further inquiry...?

Re: SCR 12

Rob,

Is there a way for the tire blowout chains to be laid on the entrance/ exit of the parking area during the Sgt's shift? I am sure someone would hate running across one of those!!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Another question though; how many trailers and/or cars are left unattended at the hotel on Friday when we're at the track? Maybe a good idea to just have folks take their rigs to the track whether they're racing or not? Just a thought. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

I know the chances are slim that something could happen, but everyone is a little edgy right now with Pete's ordeal fresh in their minds.

Rusty,
There's a lot of traffic through the lot after hours and much of it is unrelated to our deal. I doubt if the Doubletree folks would allow something like that. I wouldn't be opposed to it but Walter and Martha might get upset if you ruined the tires on their Lexus. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif
