Trans speedo adapter for 69 yenko camaro
Need one.
I believe they were made by SW for the 69 yenko camaro's. Looking for 1 please. |
Re: Trans speedo adapter for 69 yenko camaro
While many 69 Yenko's may have had the adapter, I believe it is common on any car shipped with a Muncie and a 4:10 rear. They show up on epay from time to time.

Re: Trans speedo adapter for 69 yenko camaro
they also have a multitude of ratios ...

Re: Trans speedo adapter for 69 yenko camaro
Question, so my 69 Z with a BV rear (4:10 ratio) would have this adapter as well?
I dont recall seeing it - i thought they changed the internal plastic gear for the correct speedo reading? |
Re: Trans speedo adapter for 69 yenko camaro
I recall Ed Cuneen having those reducers listed in his copo book along with part numbers and ratios.
I loaned my book out and it never came back. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif |

[/ QUOTE ] Not necessarily. You would think that it would be uniform across the board. Can't remember the criteria for when a car got the adapter. |
Re: Trans speedo adapter for 69 yenko camaro
you can buy them from speedometer repair guys. Bob's speedometer repair has a website. Roger

Re: Trans speedo adapter for 69 yenko camaro
Jim, excellent info - thank you for posting this.
Ill give them a call to see what they have avail. Im still confused what triggers the use of them , especially if the 69Z's had 4:10 gears and M21 and no adapter used, vs the yenko cars had them and they run the same gears, tires and trans. Maybe it was used if they went to TT wheels vs the standard YH wheels? Not sure if there was any diff - should not be thought??? |
Re: Trans speedo adapter for 69 yenko camaro
I believe the adapter to be a 90 degree not a straight through style as shown. The part number is 6476736 and heres to hoping you find two,as I need one as well.Jeff

Re: Trans speedo adapter for 69 yenko camaro
GM part number 3932220, which is a gear reduction of 1:0.75
Ring a bell for anyone? Seems like positraction had something to do with whether the adapter was used, although that really doesn't make sense. |
Re: Trans speedo adapter for 69 yenko camaro
In the 69 Camaro AIM they show the reducer being used on positraction cars only.
There were three different numbers shown but I didn't write them down. I believe the different part numbers were dependent on engine. Should have brought the book home with me. |
Re: Trans speedo adapter for 69 yenko camaro
Will have to look in the AIM tonight. In the meantime:

Re: Trans speedo adapter for 69 yenko camaro
I heard from another member that 2 of his L78 69 camaro's have this reducer - but his 69Z with 4:10's does not.
|
Re: Trans speedo adapter for 69 yenko camaro
I also understand that the speedo adapter was used for hipo cars with 4:10 gears but with 14 inch tires (like copo cars and L78 cars. If you had 15 inch tires then you did not have a need for the gear reducer. Makes sense from the point that i have not seen any 69Z with 4:10 have the reducer (which they have 15in YH's).
Not sure the correct application as of yet, but maybe others can chime in. Would the parts book show a specific application? |
Re: Trans speedo adapter for 69 yenko camaro
I have a whole bunch of these if you need some !!!! Jim
