Hugger Orange 1970 LS6 Numbers?

Rick Nelson (SS427) or any other LS6 experts, does anyone know how many Special Ordered Hugger Orange 1970 LS6 Chevelles are currently out there? I have seen two in person, one at BJ and the other at Chevel-Abration in 2004-05?

Here is one.....

Rick Nelson, give me a call tomorrow.

I think I personally know of about 8 now. Others claim more but this is all I am aware of. The color is Special Order and known as Monaco Orange paint code #926-99616. SlimLS6 is one of those owners and a member here. I will call you shortly Dan. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif

There was a hugger orange, or what appeared to be one at the spring thaw at a Calgary show last sunday. Maybe somebody here from Calgary can confirm if the car was real. I thought it was a big block SS. But thats all I seen.

Re: Hugger Orange 1970 LS6 Numbers?

Is the Trim Tag original and if so what's on the Paint code line?.
And regardless of being called Monaco, Hugger, Funk Orange or Pontiac Carousel Red, they're the same color..

Here's one '70 SS factory Hugger car..
Note the tag paint line isn't '- -' or 72/72 but 'SP 4644'..

http://cdnclassics.chevelles.net/fea...eg_miller.html

Real LS6 or SS, if the subject car is an original Hugger car maybe there's a chance it or any Hugger '70 we see is one of the Tulsa Ray Bradley Chev Chevelles in the ad below?.

The text beside the pic of the '70 Coupe says...
'...A train load of SS 396 and SS 454 Malibu Coupes with every drive train available factory painted exclusively for Bradley Chevrolet in three of the sportiest colors - Citrus Green, Camaro Gold and Hugger Orange. Custom painted Sport Stripes on some and they're the wildest you've ever seen...'

Re: Hugger Orange 1970 LS6 Numbers?

i know for sure that the guy i bought my triple black LS6 from also sold a Hugger orange LS6 in Ontario Canada.
it was documented on the build sheet and i think it is still in Ontario Canada.

Re: Hugger Orange 1970 LS6 Numbers?

This came up before, and I posted this one before I think. I sold this to a family from the Chicago suburbs back in the late 90's or early 2000's. I don't know where it is now, but it would be easily identifiable. There was a lot of documentation, receipts, resto info, and owner history.

Dan, to date I haven't found any info for you on the other matter. Still looking.

PGN featured one that he came across on his Youtube channel in 2019. Note that the car was repainted a different shade of orange, but he shows the trim tag with paint code, and you can also see the original Monaco Orange along the trunk edges.

This car with the orange looks better with the white stripes.

Richls5 03-21-2021 07:38 PM

That’s my car rk had it around 2014

chevelleheart 03-21-2021 09:38 PM

The one in Calgary is a real deal , Hugger Orange 1970 LS6 car. I also know of a 1970 factory LS5 Hugger Orange 4 speed El Camino here in town as well

----Years ago, it would have to have been the late 70's, I saw a 5000ish original mile Monaco Orange LS6 just across the river in Indiana from Louisville. It appeared in perfect condition except its original engine was on a stand next to it. There was nothing wrong with it. The original owner didn't want to sell it and for the time period I offered him a small fortune. It also had no stripes and no cowl ind. I'm pretty sure it had 4-speed, with buckets and no console. The guy wasn't going to put it back together as he was worried about it getting stolen, believe it or not. I have often wondered weather it's still sitting there but wouldn't have a clue how to find the house again.....Bill S

I know of a hugger orange LS6 automatic with white interior sold new at John L. Gibson Chevrolet in Monessen, Pa a friend of my bought new, i ask him what happened to it he said he sold it and that was the last time he seen it.

drdave69 03-26-2021 03:21 PM

I met a guy years ago (late 90s maybe) that had a shop full of cars and his best car was a '70 orange LS6. I did not collect any data from it at the time so I can't verify it was a real one but it sure looked absolutely correct.

I realize this thread is focused on LS6 cars in Hugger / Monaco Orange, but its interesting to see that this special order color even found its way onto base model 1970 Chevelles (13437 or 300 series). Two of them just so happen to be in the PNW, as my buddy Gene and I each own one. Both of these cars were built at the Kansas City plant and sold new in the LA area. Both were also equipped with mandatory NA9 emissions equipment. Both are documented with build sheets indicating "ZP3 SPEC PAINT" and both have a dash in place of the paint code on the trim tag.
