69 Honda CB750 Sandcast 445 original miles
Don't know how many people are into bikes here, let alone old Hondas, but I thought this was kinda cool to see after some of the other low milage cars which have been posted recently.
http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/w...ndcast/445.jpg http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA-ORI...=item4cf06994b2 As of right now, it's $31,000 no type-O Kinda qualified here since it is a 69 and they were the original superbike/musclebike. The first run of them were hand assembled and had sand cast motors. Later ones had die cast motors and were assembly line built. Both types were sold in 1969. How many here have owned/ridden an old CB750 SOHC? |
Re: 69 Honda CB750 Sandcast 445 original miles
I'm not into bikes, but I've got a buddy that would flip his gourd over that thing.

Re: 69 Honda CB750 Sandcast 445 original miles
I like the Seventies's era Jap Musclebikes. When the Musclecar died in the early '70's, those Hondas and Kawaski's filled the void in the heart of us thrillseekers! I've always wanted an early '70's Kawasaki H2. They were nicknamed "Widowmakers" and came with a 750cc 2-Stroke engine and would run 12-flat in the 1/4 mile. On a newer note, I currently own a modified '03 Yamaha V-Max and I've had a thing for these particular power-cruisers since they first came out in '85 and Yamaha was comparing them to Sixties-era musclecars in their advertsing campaigns. Naturally, that got my attention and my father and I have owned several ever since.

Sweet piece!!!
I love the old Jap bikes too and still have my old Kawi 400 triple 2-stroke tucked away also a few other vintage bikes.. Exactly like Mark said, I always wanted the H2 Kawi too...rode a few back in the day also the H1 500's!. ~ Pete |
Re: 69 Honda CB750 Sandcast 445 original miles
Nice looking 750 but still over priced
I have had a H2-750/KZ900 and KZ1000 along with some smaller Hondas and a Yamaha 360 enduro loved that bike as well esp in the dirt Would love to get a 750 triple again or even the little little brother the 350 triple. both those bikes sound nasty with dyna tuned pipes on them. a 500 triple would be nice, theres one in the field behind a house in Rosemond Ca but last i heard the guy wont sell it, been there for Years |
Re: 69 Honda CB750 Sandcast 445 original miles
When the family convinced me the VW was unsafe, I traded it for a cool rice rocket like that Honda. Also had a Suzuki 380GT 3 banger 2 stroke, always had a drop of oil hanging on the tail pipe. A really cool sounding bike.

Re: 69 Honda CB750 Sandcast 445 original miles
Yeah, those H2 were one of the fastest bikes of the era. I just can't get into smoke-riders. Had a Waterbuffalo once, but never could tune the smoke out of it.
To go fast with a CB750, they had to run 2 and 3 engines! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...11nhra0014.jpg Not really a ride I would enjoy but a replica of this one I wouldn't mind. http://www.daytona70.com/MEDIAS/Phot...aytona70_2.jpg Kinda a neat back story too how in March of 1970, Dick Mann won the Daytona 200 with this bike that was new to the market. Many argue that Honda's victory at Daytona in 1970 was the most important single race victory, ever, for any manufacturer. They sold a lot of CB750's after that race. |
Re: 69 Honda CB750 Sandcast 445 original miles
Sold for US $41,100.00!

Re: 69 Honda CB750 Sandcast 445 original miles
I thought a few might think this is cool. Another CB750, this one selling for about 100k more than the last one!

Re: 69 Honda CB750 Sandcast 445 original miles
My first street bike was a 1965 (I think) Dream 150 and then a purple 73-ish CB350 that did the job for a while.
I always wanted a KZ-900 or 1000 and my brother in law had a GPZ1100 that was pretty fast. I had a Victory Vegas that I sold but looking for maybe a Jackpot next year. Love those old Jap bikes though, and nothing, NOTHING sounds like those old KZ's. |
Re: 69 Honda CB750 Sandcast 445 original miles
I picked up this 1974 Honda CB550 over the winter. It has a cool cafe racer style. The old Hondas are very cool and still cheap. As long as it's not a1969 750 sandcast https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...9835-image.jpg

Cool bike Dan! I had a 1974 550 years ago. Trans was a huge upgrade over the 500's but in 1974 only they had the same style as the earlier 500. I see the shifter has already been updated to the 750 lever. I need to find one again, pref orange too. Both of these were mine around 1998.

Re: 69 Honda CB750 Sandcast 445 original miles
The orange has always been my favorite color on these early Honda's. I also love the trail90 bikes,

Great thread . Makes me want to watch "On Any Sunday" right now. I really like the vintage bikes. Street, dirt, Enduro and mini bikes too.

My first link ran out. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...wasaki_900.jpg
I saw a fully restored Z1 at a local cruise last week.It was gorgeous.Same color combo as pic. When I was in High School a buddy or mine got the 1st 305 Yamaha to be imported into Canada.I just loved the sound of that bike pulling out of a turn.No other bike sounded the same.It was a giant killer and gave it to many a 650 back in the mid 60s.My father was worried I was going to be a biker so he offered me $400 if I passed grade 12 to buy my 1st 69 Camaro SS.Later in 1987 I bought a 87 GN which I thought was not fast enough so I got a Vmax.Man.What a bike. |

My first bike was a 74 model 550 four. Sadly, I just won't ride any more. Too many distracted drivers; most are texting or at least looking at their phones. |
Re: 69 Honda CB750 Sandcast 445 original miles
I remember my green 1976 Kawasaki 900, what a bike. I've got some pictures somewhere.

A couple of good friends had them years ago, I use to make a lot of parts for them, head work, struts..ect..What was the other fast Kaw, H2? These were "the" bikes years ago. I still want a Hodaka... Re: 69 Honda CB750 Sandcast 445 original miles
Wow on the values w/ some bikes of late and yep the H2 was the Kawi 750 triple two-stroker also H1 the 500. I still have my old S3 400 triple also rode and almost bought the 750 once but may not be here today if I had? Cool seeing bikes here as I've had/still have a few, the Kawi S3, a '65 Honda Cub, '70 Bultaco 360...& the Whizzer. ~ Pete |
Re: 69 Honda CB750 Sandcast 445 original miles
Hey Pete, got any pics? Sounds like a fun group of 2 wheelers there.

Re: 69 Honda CB750 Sandcast 445 original miles
I remember when a good H1 was $2k...I sold a basket case H1 to a guy in Japan for $1600 last year! Insane.

Re: 69 Honda CB750 Sandcast 445 original miles
The Kawy Z1 was the sickest acceleration rush I ever had as a kid, never came close to its limits and it still scared the S.., out of me on the Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway

Bought one like this in 70, I put a Vetter fairing on it, man what a difference that made. State of the art in early 70's. I think it made close to 70 hp now they are running 200 & up, (scary fast) |

Re: 69 Honda CB750 Sandcast 445 original miles
I own both a 1975 CB750K and a 1976 CB750K Honda and they are both have the SOHC engine. I have owned motorcyles since 1966 and I love that era of Japanese bike because at the time they had the looks, performance, handling and reliability that other bikes of that era did not.
I have several other Japanese 70s muscle bikes and I always enjoy throwing a leg over one of the 750 Hondas and going for a ride. Old memories are hard to forget. |
