Winter Projects ?
2 Attachment(s)
What are you restoring / having restored this winter?
In between customer projects I plan on geting some work done on my 66 Mustang (I know that is a bad word on here). My mother bought it when I was 7. It is nothing special, 289/Auto coupe, except to me. |
Re: Winter Projects ?
What a neat project! Good for you keeping it in the family...

I just picked up a L89 optioned 1969 Camaro Big Block RS/SS car. It is a highly optioned car and looks great in garnet red with 711 base black interior.
I also acquired a stunning 1967 Shelby GT500 pro touring car. This car is amazing to say the last. Retrofitted with a 2004 supercharged SVT Cobra motor and 6 speed trans as well as full coil over suspension. The motor looks like it was born there. These are not winter projects but winter toys |

Re: Winter Projects ?
Nice project Mike. I have restored several dozen of the 64-66 Mustangs including a couple GT350H cars and they are a pleasure to do and relatively simple (assuming the bodies are sound). Yours should look great when you get her done.
I sold all my projects due to lack of time to work on my own stuff but we have been talking about finding another 'project' car to build, even leaning towards a street rod or a Day II street machine and one we can drive the wheels off of. Time will tell......... |

Re: Winter Projects ?
LOL! You guy's don't have projects, this is my winter project! Hope to have the sheet metal completed by spring. I think I am going with a more modern drive line. Just focusing on the sheet metal first.

WOW Jason, A real NY car!

Re: Winter Projects ?
All my project time is being sucked up with wedding planning. Don't get me wrong, I love my fiance but can't wait to get this expensive one day party done.

Re: Winter Projects ?
Yep I will be busy. I really don't think the car is from NY the back half of the car is super clean. The vinyl top did a number on the roof and floors. Going to use the new one piece floor pan, full quarters outer wheel wells and a new dash panel. Since they don't make a roof skin yet for a 3rd gen nova I am going to be using a roof skin from another car.

Re: Winter Projects ?
We're hoping to have this car done by the early part of 011. The motor, trans., rear, frame and many components are done and waiting in boxes. The sheet metal work is almost done and we hope to have this car out of paint by mid December. Once we're out of paint, it should be a piece of cake!!!

Re: Winter Projects ?
Concur Micheal. Very nice car. You're doing a nice job of chronicling the originality of it too. My 05D '70 Nova fan clutch has the same date stamp "L 19 J". Would you mind keeping us posted on your progress (separate thread ) ? I love code 78 in 1970!

Looks great Mike! Thanks for sharing the photos on Photobucket. Great shots! |
Re: Winter Projects ?
Thanks guys, I'll post up some new pictures when the frame is rolling. We had hoped to be done for the Chicago show but time and shop space just weren't on our side!!!!

Re: Winter Projects ?
Here's another photobucket link for those that have an interest in these LS6 cars. This link has more of the initial tear down and some of the finished pieces. We are trying to use every original GM piece that came with the car, right down to all the nuts and bolts. I'm trying to restore everything I possibly can, even if the end result is not perfect. There is a lot of blasting and replating going into this resto and we're fortunate that we have most of the original parts to restore. I haven't updated these photos in a while but we're getting ready to spend some more time on it.
