Citrus Green 70 Deuce in Chicago
http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/cto/3327356508.html
Looks like there were 4 1970 CG cars with a manual trans and manual steering. Cool car if it's real. |
Re: Citrus Green 70 Deuce in Chicago
Bench seat four speed is cool. Anybody have any info on this car?
|
Re: Citrus Green 70 Deuce in Chicago

And for all I know it's real with a legit vin. Question for you experts though- shouldn't this have throttle linkage vs a cable? |
Re: Citrus Green 70 Deuce in Chicago
Thank you!

Re: Citrus Green 70 Deuce in Chicago
These cars are still being found

Re: Citrus Green 70 Deuce in Chicago
Cable linkage is correct.
I heard about this one, might be a new find for the Deuce community. We know where 9 of the 10 CG Deuces were sold from, none of those 9 were from Thorstad - so in theory this car might/should fill in that missing info for us. If so, it can only have 1 body sequence number out of the few hundred thousand Novas in '70! Anyone have the TT info? Let's see how good my logic & calculations are! |
Re: Citrus Green 70 Deuce in Chicago
Good deal Marlin. So is this one on one of the six sheets?
|
Re: Citrus Green 70 Deuce in Chicago
Very, very cool. Hope we hear from the new owner if it's been sold.
|
Re: Citrus Green 70 Deuce in Chicago
Yes, this car is on one of the sheets. Someone pointed out that we did later figure out that a CG deuce was sold through Thorstad - these sheets are tough to make out. Hopefully the seller has a clean version of sheet 8!
|
Re: Citrus Green 70 Deuce in Chicago
Marlin
Am I wrong in assuming the VIN for this Deuce is 370721 & already been counted? It's the only Thorstad CG on the list posted here. |
Re: Citrus Green 70 Deuce in Chicago
Hopefully this car found a good home...the CL ad was a little weird considering the kind of car being offered. It would seem to me a seller wouldn't have to go to far to find real buyers for a Deuce.

Re: Citrus Green 70 Deuce in Chicago
Very Cool unrestored ride.
|
Re: Citrus Green 70 Deuce in Chicago
This Deuce has been in the same small town forever, well known in the area one hour south of me. Rumored the car was for sale for some time. I looked at the deuce seven or eight years ago, if I remember right he was asking much more then.

Re: Citrus Green 70 Deuce in Chicago
Hi Mike,
Are you sure this is the same car you are thinking of? I had talked about buying that car as well and you are right,he wanted alot more. Non original motor and trans so that is why i think not the same car. |
Re: Citrus Green 70 Deuce in Chicago
Looks like I got to this party a little late...where was the car actually located..ad states 3.5 hours North of Chicago, I live about 3 hours north of Chicago, not familiar with this Deuce but know of a couple others.
I would assume this wouldn't really be considered a "find" as the car got out at least once a year for shows as well a couple trips to the grocery store? |
Re: Citrus Green 70 Deuce in Chicago
Citrus Green on a Deuce is where it's at.

Re: Citrus Green 70 Deuce in Chicago
There used to be a Citrus Green Yenko duece sitting in a driveway in a housing addition a couple of towns from my house when I was younger. Probably 1983-84. I never got to speak with the kid that owned it. His Mom would always answer the door. Always the same story... "It's my son's car and he'd never sell it." It disappeared years later. The funny thing is, up until a couple of years ago I always assumed it was Mist Green (code 45 in the Chevelle world) not knowing it wasn't one of the Yenko color choices. It was wearing it's original faded paint with the Black Yenko stripes. It must have been Citrus Green. There was also a Forrest Green Duece from down around Decatur, In. I used to deliver parts to the Body shop that painted it. I've heard it's a real car but can't confirm this. I've been told it's still in the area.

When I was younger and immature, I thought it was a gross colour. Now that I am older and well ..... still immature..... I think that colour on a Deuce is beautiful. The one from Detroit that was at the 10th reunion cured me! Peter |

Pete,
I felt the same way about Olympic Gold....Now I Love It! Dan |
Re: Citrus Green 70 Deuce in Chicago
Thanks to all who have sent me notes to jog my memory! I rechecked my personal file, and we do indeed have this car listed - so not a new find (bummer!). This car is the first CG Deuce body produced under order #QLL531, it is the 138th Deuce produced of the 175. It was shipped to Thorstad on 7/9/70, and is one of 6 CG Deuces remaining (4 speeds and 2 a/t's) of the 10 produced.
Great to see the car get out after all these years! Love the Chevy II hood emblem, matches the 'Deuce' nomenclature better. Also, note the LT1 on the hood going in the opposite direction of the hood edge, always neat to see that done. |

That's how you tell the "real" deuces. Couple of things threw us off on the description on this car. It has a warrenty motor vrs the factory born with motor, and the trans isn't the complete born with piece either if I remember correctly. (that could be up for grabs) I've visited with the owner a couple of times. He's a colorful guy. Likes to go fast. |
Re: Citrus Green 70 Deuce in Chicago
Yep - I checked my notes, and I have the same story about the engine and trans - and the owner! Good stories

Re: Citrus Green 70 Deuce in Chicago
Was there a standard factory 12 bolt gear ratio and code for a 70 Yenko Deuce,
|
Re: Citrus Green 70 Deuce in Chicago
Deuces were COPO, so not actually standard. Rears were CBW 4.10 exclusive to deuces, and the Canadian COPO Novas only.

Re: Citrus Green 70 Deuce in Chicago
Grant,
Come on down to MCACN and you can see an original owner unrestored Yenko Deuce in Sunflower Yellow. We did have a few on display last year as well. The Citrus Deuce was a cool car. I went out to buy it, while real, it wasn't as described. |
Re: Citrus Green 70 Deuce in Chicago
when i get to that area i will do that .. i love these cars after seeing and working in the CG ..still cant get pics to work ... bummer
