Re: Grumpy Jenkins Estate snap on tool box
I just did a wiki and he had a daughter with his first wife and a son and daughter with his second wife. Never seen any pics or photos of his son with him. Wonder if he is into cars? Sadly, what happens is many of these boys want nothing to do with their dad's hobby/career as they grow up. On a side note this still cracks me up every time I see it. Every thing was so less serious back then...lot of fun. The 60's and 70's were w/o a doubt probably the two best decades to grow up and live...Vietnam war, and other warts and all. Today, drivers have to get their sponsors permission before taking a crap. I am so grateful to have experienced the '70's ,, the music, culture etc. (sorry to get off tangent) http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i3...or/grumpy1.jpg |
Re: Grumpy Jenkins Estate snap on tool box

Re: Grumpy Jenkins Estate snap on tool box
kind of in the same boat I have two sons that are not in to cars and i have a boat load of' snap on tools along with a very big snap on tool box My oldest son just the other day said when i go
what is he suppose to do with all of my tools because he does not know what they are used for I am now 60 but I do not want to get rid of them I still use them on my cars and a lot of them I bought back in the 60s looking at the pictures of bills tools kind of remind me of me |
Re: Grumpy Jenkins Estate snap on tool box
Feel free to give them to me when you no longer need them!
You can always use them as Dodgeball training equipment. "If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball" I always loved Rip Torn in that scene from Dodgeball. |
Re: Grumpy Jenkins Estate snap on tool box
ha ha but no kidding need a flat bed truck just to move that box
dont know WHAT I was thinking when I bought that thing But hey it is a a snap on that box empty weighs about 900/1000 lbs and now full of tools only god knows what it weighs now The only thing is my box and my tools look way better I guess it my age because my tools are all clean and ogingnize and i have even wax them I know I am NUTs Bills tool box kind of like my dads box But I am not taking any taking any away from bill I still feel sad about this |
Re: Grumpy Jenkins Estate snap on tool box
It is sad. The're even sellng his pants!
I have some of both of my grandfathers' tools. I use the big set of wood clamps from my dad's dad regularly and I have this bizarre articulating pliers with a wire cutter on the side, from my Mom's dad. It has an 1896 patent date on it. It might even be his father's pliers, since he was born in 1898. Those will get passed down to my kids. |
Re: Grumpy Jenkins Estate snap on tool box
They are even selling his pants
I saw that Thats just not right |
Re: Grumpy Jenkins Estate snap on tool box
I think that the auctions for Grump's stuff will be hotly contested and certainly the most important pieces will end up in good homes.
What I find interesting is that they decided to split up the trophy collection. I was told several times by Bill's guys that the plan was for them to be sold as a single lot to keep them together. I guess Dana figured they'd probably maximize proceeds for the family by allowing more people to compete for individual trophies than only the big boys compete for the collection. Should also be an interesting dynamic given Dana owns one of Grump's cars himself. |

I saw that Thats just not right </div></div> Yeah I was thinking the same thing..pants are just one step up from his underwear. Shirts, jackets and hats are entirely ok.. Actually glad to see the trophy collection being offered piece meal.. better that many people can enjoy them other than just the one person who would have ended up with the entire collection. |
Re: Grumpy Jenkins Estate snap on tool box
The tool box was i believe part of the gifts Car Craft gave the 1969 All star drag team members .. He was a local hero to me growing up .I was glad to have had the chance to meet him tour his shop and buy one of his last pit scooter's .Yes i still use the scooter .I hope the box goes to a good home and the new owner uses them and enjoys them also. http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps35cf09b5.jpg |

I would need a rollback to move mine, and that's empty. The only way I can inventory is to take new pictures every year. This is one wrench drawer.... http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps25e8d534.jpg |

Re: Grumpy Jenkins Estate snap on tool box
yea I also agree the 60's and 70's were a wonderful time to grow up. It was a time when we all broke out of the mold our parents lived in.. And we survived it..
But ya know what? Im SURE my Son will think that the 90's and 00's were an excellent time to grow up too. I guess its all relative |
Re: Grumpy Jenkins Estate snap on tool box
that tool box should go in the wally parks drag racing museum.. nobody is really going to appreciate it for what it is otherwise
