Re: day 2 headers
The 1970 Action Performance catalog I have lists them as 64-69 Chevelle. They do have Cragar and the part number stamped into the flange. I look forward to seeing them redone. I think the blue will really set off an engine compartment. I just need to figure out the best refinish technique that lasts (paint or powder coat, etc.) and a paint match. Then, someone that is capable.
Yes, I got them off of ebay. Thanks, Marty |
Re: day 2 headers
Those are some sexy headers Marty...I like the curves
|
Re: day 2 headers
----They are good looking headers, Bruce but Marty should check out sparkplug access on those puppies as I remember them being tough to find a way around. I have several "modified" different tools I used with tight headers on big blocks.
----Marty,,,You may decide after a trial run that they just arent worth the hassle, but they would look great as garage wall art!!!.....Bill S ----Just remembered that peanut-plugs help a little. |
Re: day 2 headers
Bruce - Thank you for the compliment on the headers!
Bill - I appreciate the feedback. I didn't think of that when I bought them. Only was thinking of how cool they are. Thanks, Marty |

Re: day 2 headers
Here is another set I would like to share. Jeff Murphy's ZL1 Camaro. I don't know who manufactured them or what they are called, but I think they look awesome. I love the color contrst against the all aluminum engine. The simply look great! These are the only photos I have. I think you can get a general idea of what they would look like off the car? Perhaps others can chime in on some details.

Re: day 2 headers
Look like M/T Super Scavenger (sp?)
|
Re: day 2 headers
I 2nd that! bitchin!
|
Re: day 2 headers
----I was about to say "Mickies". Collectors are the giveaway. And in the spirit of this,,,Look at how the individual pipes come way out from the head almost straight, and then turn. These headers appear to be good for frequent plug checks. Very nice!.....Bill S
|
Re: day 2 headers
Yes. Super Scavengers. They are equal length, so the ends of the pipes are staggered inside the long tube collectors, which is kinda of cool looking from underneath. The long tubes also make if seem like the exhaust is exiting right under the driver's seat which gives a great kick in the pants feeling. The other cool thing about these headers is that they turn dark, almost cherry or brick red, when the motor is running and then cool back to the orange seen in the pictures.

Re: day 2 headers
Jeff,
Very cool. Thanks for filling us in. Would love to sit in the passenger seat for a kick in the pants feeling some day. Thanks, Marty |
Re: day 2 headers
Just curious- where did you have them coated? They look (to me anyways) like they're originals and not repros. The four bolt collector is a dead giveaway.

Re: day 2 headers
Anyone recognize these? very unique pass side, out of a 67 GTO

Re: day 2 headers
B H 37 bought them off e bay about 13 years ago for around 45 dollars they had never been used.i was looking for headers that were not fit all generic when i came across them i recognized them from jerry's Z/28 book the left side one looks a little different but the right side looks the same other than the bolt on collectors.

This is a set of Hooker Headers that were purchased new in '74. The silver paint is original and they have the Hooker logo etched around the collector several times.
