Gonna need some ideas for this one

Motor will be replaced shortly.

I'd like to do a day 2 theme, but nothing too crazy. No tunnel ram, fender flares, side pipes or lace paint etc.

I think if you decide on the wheel and tire combo, and combined with the list above of things you don't want- things should fall into place.

What are the motor details?

sorry for the photo code errors

pxtx: It came with a 1970 YU 255HP 350 with 1975 6X heads. Currently looking for a 455 with round port heads.

Cool car!

Here's one that was for sale at our local swap meet for $2100....

Not a bad deal for a GT37! I would have paid that for the fenders and doors.

Debating on doing mismatch wheels on the Pontiac. Poverty caps/redlines up front and deep dish Cragars in the rear? Gotta figure wheel/tire size, spacing etc. Would also like a little higher stance than the last Day 2 car I owned.

I vote for the 70's standards: Higher stance, wide Cragars on the rear (N50's) and slightly wider than stock Cragars on the front, some panel paint done with either paint or a vinyl wrap for ease of removal if you'd like, a pedestal spoiler on the rear ala a Judge, loud exhaust, etc. I guarantee people will look at it and love it everywhere you go.

Re: Gonna need some ideas for this one

69VN: I'm kinda digging those Cragar GT's. I'll strongly consider those if I decide to paint the car black.

Markinnaples: are there any drawbacks for cruising with 50's in the rear besides road feel? I remember a few hairy experiences driving the Chevelle pictured above in the rain. Then again it didn't have power steering/brakes...

Doubt I'll do graphics or a spoiler, though a duck tail might look OK.

There's got to be a nice shot of a car like yours with these beauties. I'll go looking for it later!

pxtx I have a 1970-1972 Pontiac A Body blog with over 1,000 pics and I don't recall seeing any with those exact wheels?

http://1971t37.tumblr.com/

Just a thought.....but would I be a horrible person for dropping a rectangle port Chevy BB in this? I keep picturing it with a tarantula manifold and a canted Holley 850

Too bad the tunnel ram below is 1 of a kind

ChevyandPontiac: that thing is awesome!

They can't too mad since most (all?) Canadian 70-72 Lemans/T37 came with Chevy mills.

Chevy BB swap seems fairly painless

Chevelle frame mounts
Chevy bolt pattern tranny
Possible driveshaft yoke change (not sure with the BOP TH350)
Chevelle battery tray/relocate battery to the passenger side
Modify alternator wiring harness for alternator side switch

Re: Gonna need some ideas for this one

It is easier than you think. You can use your trans, speedway makes an adapter for $35. Then you just use bbc headers for a chevelle.

Here's a pic of the chevy set up in the last 68 Firebird I bought. .060 over 12 to 1 402, solid cam and it was a beast. I bought it for the body when I was in my Pontiac period and it eventually went back to ALL Pontiac after the state said they wouldn't register it that way. How about a RA III engine?

Have a free day, let's see if I can get off the interweb and get some stuff done

Not sure if these valve covers will clear the AC unit...

Tow Tabs:

Doesn't look like these will fit without cutting up the panel. Wonder if I'd have better luck with tabs for an Endura bumpered Camaro?

I wasn't alive then, so what I'm gonna say has more to do with my 1980s paradigm:

If I see a LeMans, etc. dressed up like that, I think it's clapped-out. Perhaps for a GTO it would work for my eyes, but a T-37 should use more subtle mods. I guess the spoiler is throwing me off, as the rest sounds fine.

One wheel that I've always liked was offered by Oldsmobile for their big cars but also offered by a company (Motor Wheel?) and called it the "Exciter" I think? They're polycast like Honeycombs.

Re: Gonna need some ideas for this one

Cragar S/Ss or American 200S "daisy" spokes would look good for a 1970-71 Day 2 look.

Re: Gonna need some ideas for this one

Appearance mods will be very mild: monochrome paint, ladder bars, tow tabs and wheels. Spoiler is definitely out of the question. lol

Pretty sure I have the wheel selection narrowed down to the Appliance Dia-Mag.

442W30: Exciter wheel looks kind of bland to me?

Sounds more 1980's than 1970's, but to each their own.

I guess they were called Sunfire's in the 70's. Attached is a Appliance Sunfire dated 1974. I suppose even that is a little late for "Day 2"
