Day 2 Chevelle
A bit rough, but the owner stated 'it's been done for a long time, and that's the way I like it' - can't argue with that. It was parked in front of the local Speed Shop, so I took some pics because of the vintage parts on it.

I love it! The owner is Spot-On correct

Re: Day 2 Chevelle
Looks cool, But I'd at least repair the body rot if I owned it. Surface rust would be left untouched, though.
|
Re: Day 2 Chevelle
The car is pretty cool but it does feel like it's owner is trying a bit too hard for that neglectic/ barn find appeal. I'm not sure there wouldn't be some tire contact if it was actually street raced like that. Again, neat assortment of old parts just not sure what percent is poser vs performer.
Did the guy say what kind of number the car had turned? |
Re: Day 2 Chevelle
He was an ole timer, and wasn't trying for anything but keeping the old street sweeper running! I don't think he runs it at a track, just a street turner...
|
Re: Day 2 Chevelle
I like it because it has a true look to it and all "he was an ole timer".
|
Re: Day 2 Chevelle
Hey!! I resemble an "Old Timer" ... but I still enjoy the hobby after almost 70 years. TAZ

Re: Day 2 Chevelle
Only problem I got with it is never put a teardrop scoop on a gm car. They only look good on Ford's imo. It's like putting an L88 hood on a Galaxie
|
Re: Day 2 Chevelle
Agree ...
|
Re: Day 2 Chevelle
I'm think I feel the same with the teardrop scoop but when GM takes a Ford scoop and gives it a GM # and puts it on a car from the factory, they're easier to like

Re: Day 2 Chevelle
The funny thing is that he was inside buying braided line fittings and the like, presumably for carb lines - didn't want a fuel leak. Hey, whatever it takes to enjoy the hobby the way you want to.

Re: Day 2 Chevelle
not sure how he got tags for that car! Unless before the rust.

You can't possibly believe those tags belong to that car Sam? I heard that the original keys are rusted out |
Re: Day 2 Chevelle
well I know you can now use old tags from years back in Pa. Stared a year or so ago. If he had classic tags or antique tags long ago before the rust he could have changed them for the 66 plates without taking any pictures. But who knows.

Re: Day 2 Chevelle
Did you find out what driveline it had?
Cool looking ride. wilma |

Don Cross breeding back then was common and acceptable. My Mustang has a Grump lump and I have seen at least 30-40 Ford cars with Grump lumps. L-88 scoops where on just about everything back in the day. The Hemi Superbird in the Otis Chandler collection had a L-88 scoop molded on. Just as nearly every mopar and Ford today run GM style cowl hoods and no one thinks anything about it |
Re: Day 2 Chevelle
All cool cars Whitetop, but there is something special about that little Falcon. That's one of my favorite 70's cars for some reason, and that looks like an ISCA/World of Wheels show.

Yeah that Falcon was at the very first indoor show I ever attended as a kid 1977, and it has influenced my taste to this day..wild paint, lots of chrome, high stance and wide Cragars sticking out 3 inched out of the quarter panels and tunnel rams. It was fresh at the show and I can still remember the paint smell coming off of it..I'm serious. |
Re: Day 2 Chevelle
LOL, I know that smell well (my dad did body work and painting in our house for 30 years).
Wonder where it is today? |
Re: Day 2 Chevelle
Isn't that the superbird that David Spade just bought at mecum?. They said that car used to have custom paint.
|
Re: Day 2 Chevelle
Hi..David Spade actually bought the 69 Hemi 4 speed Daytona

The car in the photos above is a Daytona; could be the same car Spade bought. |

Wonder where it is today? </div></div> I spoke with Perry Mahoney the builder and few years ago. In the mid 80's he sold it to a guy who owned a chain of Ford dealerships in NJ and it has since disappeared. The guy sold out and no one has any record of the car |

Re: Day 2 Chevelle
I never knew that David Spade was a muscle car guy... I liked the GTX he drove in Tommy Boy..

</div></div> He'd better not shake too much or the car might fall apart. |
Re: Day 2 Chevelle
Give it a little more time to rust and there will be enough room to take the HiJackers off it LOL
OH I do like the slotted mags on it! <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: x Baldwin Motion</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h6...psi6y1cinh.jpg </div></div> |
