Z28 firewall I.D.
Is there anything in this arrangement of holes (speedo cable?) and protrusion of emergency brake cable that identifies this car as a '69 Z28?

No hole for ZL2.

Re: Z28 firewall I.D.
did the flat hood cars have the ZL2 hole on the fire? If he pulled the back seat wouldn't the "X" designation be on the rear seat frame?

Los Angeles car, no X-codes. |
Re: Z28 firewall I.D.
I thought there was something in the positioning of the gas pedal exit in relation to the steering column holes. But I figured out thanks to CRG - you can I.D. a Muncie car, but not specifically a Z.

No hole for flat hood Z's. |
Re: Z28 firewall I.D.
The single 3/8" fuel line, Muncie speedo hole are good signs but not 100% proof.

Re: Z28 firewall I.D.
the firewall on my 69 Z28. It has a late build of November of 69. See the hole above the fuse box hole for the ZL2 ducted hood and the hole below the fuse box hole for the factory tach. Both are stamped holes and not drilled holes. My car has no console or console gauges. I hope this helps! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...eefirewall.jpg

Re: Z28 firewall I.D.
LA cars usually have stripe color over spray on the firewall if you scrape some of that black paint off there should be stripe color on the cowl top and down the firewall, obviously if the stripes were black it is more difficult to discern.
The LA cars I have seen also have the color in numerical code vs color written, I assume this is because they built different car lines in LA and some colors were coded the same yet carried different names? https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Q...BZ28%2B075.JPG https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-K...BZ28%2B048.JPG |
Re: Z28 firewall I.D.
true ^
That is the easy way to determine the 1st gen "real" Z28's / Z-11/10 cars as long as no one has removed (stripped / sand blasted) the paint off the top of the cowl as shown in the above pics, Van Nuys painted the entire upper cowl in strip color |

Re: Z28 firewall I.D.
1969 350 Camaros not just SS used the same motor mounts.
