Nice. Those don't come up for sale every day.....

Re: CQ 427 335 turbo 400 1969
As you state,it's clearly a common low horse 335HP application, behind an LE coded Impala series block.
Assembled November 20th,1969. No '69 camaro or corvette got a 335HP engine that I'm aware of. As for the COPO reference, possibly a 335HP LJ coded Police Impala series, but that's it. |
Re: CQ 427 335 turbo 400 1969
I would think it be November 20, 1968 not 1969.

Yes,that's right.

Re: CQ 427 335 turbo 400 1969
Regardless of the tag code...it could be a great core for a performance build if you want a TH400. You don't see a lot of these trannys for sale anymore.

Worth every bit of $400.

I had the same CQ trans a few years ago....couldn't give it away.
I finally sold it for $150. Kurt |
Re: CQ 427 335 turbo 400 1969
Since so many folks are building cars with over drive trannys, the TH400 is a little bit of a dinosaur. But, they are stronger than most all the other ones in stock form...with the proper upgrades they are bullet proof. I love feeling the upshift at around 6400rpm in our L78 car

Re: CQ 427 335 turbo 400 1969
The very reason I had a 5 grand shift kit included in mine. I still bark the tires at WOT going from 2nd into 3rd, with less to worry about.

Re: CQ 427 335 turbo 400 1969
We have lots of 400s up here.I just bought a race prepped 400 with 10" convertor for $400 and that's not a rare deal.

Well, all I can say is my CX behind the 427 will snap your head going into 2nd AND 3rd!
