Kissimmee Jan 2016
What an impressive list of cars / collections for sale. WOW

Re: Kissimmee Jan 2016
Yes, some great cars. Perhaps too many hitting the market at one time though and wondering why in FL versus the AZ auctions which are happening around the same time?

Re: Kissimmee Jan 2016
This has to be the Granddaddy of musclecar auctions. I have never seen this many high end musclecars at one auction. Mecum Kissimmee is a week before the Scottsdale auctions. People might show up at Scottsdale with empty pockets.

There are usually more cars going through Mecum Kissimmee than all the Arizona auctions combined. Traditionally there has been a strong representation of classics, Corvettes and Muscle Cars. The sell rate at Kissimmee has demonstrated a strong trend. 2,000-3,000 collector cars is a bunch to have available at one location and at one auction. The level of Muscle Cars represented this year is very strong. I can certainly understand why someone looking to sell a significant Muscle Car or collection, would choose Kissimmee. |
Re: Kissimmee Jan 2016
I also see some interesting Ferrari's going thru - which is the same time as the Palm Beach Cavallino event - which a lot of F-car money will be in town.....Dana has it positioned well this yr.

Re: Kissimmee Jan 2016
I'm looking forward to seeing the great collection of muscle cars in person!
I'm wondering how many of the 7 figure cars will change hands at this auction? Should be exciting! Dave |

Does this make my "Holy Grail" book that much more valuable, Bob? And I'll bring it this year for you to sign since I forgot to have you initial it last year. Hard to imagine the amount of money on the floor in that section at last year's show. Sell all those cars and you could buy Brazil!!
Cheers Dave |

Re: Kissimmee Jan 2016
Seems odd they would put what looks to be a repro TT on the ZL-1. Big money on the Mopars, however, am curious why the '70 was bid higher than the '71. I guess auto versus 4 speed.

Re: Kissimmee Jan 2016
I saw the repo tag. I looked in the cowl and the correct vin is there.

Re: Kissimmee Jan 2016
No sale at $600K. Figured it would do better.
|
Re: Kissimmee Jan 2016
Charlie, what was the deal with the 2 69 T/A converts?I know one was supposed not to be forsale.500K diff for the auto to 4 speed car?1.4 mil for the auto, was that when 2 fools met?Tom

Re: Kissimmee Jan 2016
I think the most one has ever sold for is 1.1 or 1.2. The triple white was a 4 speed so more demand. I don't think either have their orig. engines but I'm not sure that matters because they are so rare. The owner of the auto car has always wanted a bunch for it. I will just assume his reserve was up there so they ran it up near reserve but had no real bids that high.

Re: Kissimmee Jan 2016
I watched on tv and one of the last cars I saw was the 63 big tank corvette. Looked like they were pulling bids out of the air until the reserve was met then got the buyer to bid again. you can see the bids dont come from the same place. I guess it does speed things up but makes you wonder whats up. This was the first year I havent been there and weird to watch from home. didnt sound like a great day for weather there.

Re: Kissimmee Jan 2016
Lots of reproduction & knockoff RoadArt there this year.
Thankfully,many realize that. |
Re: Kissimmee Jan 2016
Bill,
I see that at a lot of the auctions that have reserves. I believe someone here mentioned at one point that the auction company can shill bid an item up to reserve. It does speed things up. Auctions do seem to be the best place to sell a high-dollar car, but the fees involved at a 1 million, or 2 million dollar sale can be staggering. Good for the auction company, but no necessarily so for the buyer and seller... but then again, where else can you get the big bucks? Phil Woj. |
Re: Kissimmee Jan 2016
Hi Phil
In Mecums info it says they can do that. I noticed this year the buyer and seller fees went up too. They get a pile on those high dollar cars in fees! |
Re: Kissimmee Jan 2016
It was a real thrill to see all those high dollar cars up close! I was shocked that they weren't roped off!
I love convertibles but I also would have to have that 68 Baldwin Motion Camaro if I just could win the Powerball! One guy seemed to be buying several of the high $ cars. Any one here make any purchase? Dave |

Re: Kissimmee Jan 2016
That was a well done clone that was sold a few auctions back as a real one if I recall
|
Re: Kissimmee Jan 2016
If the 67 Z was burgundy, it was there last year. It was gorgeous and a well done clone.
