Bill Hunter Yenko
I heard one of us talked Bill out of his Yenko that he bought new.
|
Re: Bill Hunter Yenko
You heard right Charlie, but I will let him come out when he is ready. Great score...

Re: Bill Hunter Yenko
... Whoever got it .... that is a great car ... Here is an old write up on it.... Bill Hunter Yenko Camaro |
Re: Bill Hunter Yenko
The car is going to a good home for sure

Re: Bill Hunter Yenko
Wild Bill was ruthless at the wheel. The one race at the reunion when he left the starting line hard and the rear of the car shifted towards the wall but he stayed in it and corrected to finish the race. You could just feel the tension in the air as the car drifted over and everyone's butt cheeks tightened. Cool car and a great guy...
|
Re: Bill Hunter Yenko
Bill was great to meet at the reunion years ago. He still had all his paperwork which he gave to me to run to Kinkos, not many would do that. He bought an orange Yenko Camaro before the yellow car and as he described it "she started knocking about 140" and brought it back to Gates the next day. He said he'd take the yellow car which was still on the delivery trailer from Yenko, the one he still owned. He certainly enjoyed it, he told us he had at least 7 different motors in it over the years!

Re: Bill Hunter Yenko
Bill saved everything... the entire original exhaust along with clamps etc is there, the entire smog system, manifolds, backdrive linkages fuel block and lines are mint. Plus the original keys, knockouts, key envelope folder, keychain, all of the warranty paperwork, POP and folder, the Yenko - Cannonsburg Window Sticker, the oil change coupons from Gates, sales contracts for both cars.

Re: Bill Hunter Yenko
It was at Pavillions early this morning when I swung by. I didn't note the new owner but he made a sign for it already. I think it said it was bought on 1/22.......
|
Re: Bill Hunter Yenko
Check my Pavilions pics from today...it will explain all

Re: Bill Hunter Yenko
interesting how Bill put a 1/4 in stripe around the Yenko hood stripes to match the way Yenko put the 1/4 in stripe around his side stripes

Everyone was floored when he opened his trailer and shared his stories of owning his Yenko from new. Actually two Yenko's, he owned an orange one for about 12 hrs. before returning it to the dealer with a blown engine...... |
Re: Bill Hunter Yenko
Didn't his returned blown engine Yenko surface with it's original engine about that time?
|
Re: Bill Hunter Yenko
Yep, the next day - hood open until the true story came out and then the hood remained closed!
|
Re: Bill Hunter Yenko
Here we go again more B.S.
|
Re: Bill Hunter Yenko
Bill didn't blow up the engine in his first orange Yenko Camaro he bought new or the same Yenko was not at the reunion when Bill was there 14 years ago, what part is b.s.?
|
Re: Bill Hunter Yenko
What part is BS Kim ?
|
Re: Bill Hunter Yenko
Bill bought the orange car new, blew it up the first night, then pushed it back to Gates. Then took the Yellow car the next day..BKH
|
Re: Bill Hunter Yenko
I think what Rick was saying is the Orange Yenko showed up at the reunion ...touting it had the original motor....the owner of the car at the time didn't know Bill Hunter was there ( Bill was the original owner who grenaded the motor) ....hence Kim calling it BS....once the owner was introduced to Bill Hunter and explained the real story behind the motor ...that's when the hood was closed and egg was on the owners face to explain his claim...but that didn't happen. My guess is Kim was calling BS to the fact that the owner was not telling the truth as Bill Hunter was the new missing link to that car and story .
|
Re: Bill Hunter Yenko
I guess the key is, does any one know for sure, if, after Bill took the Orange Yenko back to the dealership, was the “blown” motor replaced, or repaired? In talks with Bill he assumed it was replaced, but once he had the Yellow Yenko, how the Orange car was repaired was of no concern to him.
|
Re: Bill Hunter Yenko
Both ideas are possible
|
Re: Bill Hunter Yenko
I have forgotten more important things that happened more recently but I thought Bill said he put a window in the block of the Orange car.

Re: Bill Hunter Yenko
That's what Bill told me when I asked him what "blew the oranges' engine" meant.
Said he was a careless teen who didn't break the engine in properly and floored the hell out of it. |

What a car - what a history! Looks great!!

Re: Bill Hunter Yenko
Really cool Yenko, but those stripes on the hood look really strange from the front. Are they all that crooked?
|
Re: Bill Hunter Yenko
Could the edges be "weathered" ?? The inside edges look sort of ragged.
|
Re: Bill Hunter Yenko
Yes they are really like that, apparently teenagers were the installers. If you look at the side stripes in some places the gap in the center is irregular.

Not that uncommon. Here is the (then unrestored) 69 Yenko Chevelle that Chad used to own. Notice the angle of these stripes.

BTW, Lynn Y. was one of those teenagers! |
Re: Bill Hunter Yenko
But ya' have to look at the bottom line -- most folks will look a car and never pick up on the little things ... its when we all get together with the eyes displayed on this forum that items are looked at closely. Not picking things apart by no means -- just sayin' it is a damn good looking ride ... TAZ

Re: Bill Hunter Yenko
Beautiful orange peel, never buffed on or cut. Beautiful original paint imperfection details
