Do yourself and your son a favor - if those are the original 1987 vintage Eagle GT's, replace them with a set of repo's from Rusty here (goes by Smallhurst on this site) and make sure your son understands how the boost comes on in those cars. If you are not used to that feel it can get you into trouble quickly.
Great car and nice restoration - have fun with it. |

Great car and nice restoration - have fun with it.</div></div> Damn straight -- the turbo Buicks are real "peaky" and when you hammer them if you are not ready or not used to the turbo-lag it will get away from you in a heart beat. With that being said, take the young man out to a large open area (parking lot as an example) and let him get used to the feel of this beast. Just sayin' ... Great car and nice restoration - have fun with it. </div></div> Yup. They are 30 year old Eagle gt's. I am purchasing new repro ones. Ill contact smallhurst. Thanks. I was gonna get em from Summit who had the best price and no shipping cost Our Son knows all about how to drive a GN. I brought back from the hospital when he was born in one. He totally respects the power and drives it like he should.. |

You should really notice an improvement in ride and traction. We had 25 year old Eagle GT+4's we replaced with the repro Eagle GT's and were surprised at the difference. |

Beautiful GN. Save those old tires to stay with the car. Store in black garbage bags.

Re: bought our 22 year old Son a mint 86 GN
Frank that is Absolutly Gorgeous!! Has the car been repainted or is that the factory Dispersion Lacquer?
Most of the GN and GNX's had a terrible finish from the factory. I remember stripping and repainting a bunch of them due to customer complaints to GM. I miss my GNX but I do not miss trying to keep it Clean... Mark |

I had an 86 in the early 90s and it had already been repainted. I heard it wasn't uncommon

Re: bought our 22 year old Son a mint 86 GN
Can confirm the paint is garbage on them from the factory. My grandfather's was stored in a barn, cloudy as hell (May be from storage) and riddled with orange peel. It had to be repaired on the lower driver's side, which is cracking badly. It's only got 30,000 miles, but it looks like it's got 5x that.
