Re: How many 1969 camaro L78 convertible known
I bought a standard white stripper from the original owner way back in 1975
white standard interior, 3 speed, no radio but rear window defogger and a console. dog dish wheels he wanted the highest hp convertible for the least amount of $$$$ he told me the salesman felt sorry for him and "gave him" those two options ... white top, black SS stripes I can't remember if it had PS or not sold it to a valet that worked at The Fox and Hounds in Bloomfield Hills and the 1st thing he did was hack up the door panels and add some stupid radio. I think I got $3200 for it |

Re: How many 1969 camaro L78 convertible known
There is a pace car (not Indy) in Sweden. And a collector I know told me about a L89 also.

Re: How many 1969 camaro L78 convertible known
I had a 69 Pace Car up in Rantoul, Il -- it came out of Wisconsin. Body was pretty bad and engine was even worse. Put quarters and rear panel on it -- replaced the 350 with a 396 I had under the bench. Painted it with acrylic enamel, installed a new top and had the lettering painted on the doors by a local sign painter. Sold it to a lawyer in Urbana -- I think his kid was driving it. Lost track of it later. TAZ

Re: How many 1969 camaro L78 convertible known
I had one that's not on that list, in the early 80,s dave tinnell restored a ZL1 for carl dwiggens and the sub frame wasn't exceptable for dave to use. carl sent dave a garnet l78 x66 that had rusty floors and trunk was weak. dave pulled the eng and trans out and sent it back to carl and changed out the sub frames . I ended up with the roller. it had the correct fuel line but I never saw the engine and trans. I sold it to a friend whom still owns it. been trying to buy it back for years.

Re: How many 1969 camaro L78 convertible known
With a repro trim tag and questionable paperwork I wouldn't put this one on the list.
|
Re: How many 1969 camaro L78 convertible known
Some one did a lot of work on this one , but didnt do there homework. Trim tag says Ivory hounds tooth but the only convertibles that had houndstooth was the pace car.

Re: How many 1969 camaro L78 convertible known
Does VOLO have a reputation/history of "finding" original docs for many
of their "original" cars ???? |
Re: How many 1969 camaro L78 convertible known
Fake paperwork equals fake car. One of the owners of Volo knowingly tried to sell me a fake LS6 convert years ago.

You should have paid for it with fake money. They'd have no standing if they tried to sue you - you were simply making a "like kind exchange." |
Re: How many 1969 camaro L78 convertible known
Kevin Suydam's RS/SS L89
If I remember right, he told me he paid around $40,000 for that car back in the early 90's |

Not sure why that car was even brought up. It was exposed pretty well in the earlier post you started. Fake tag etc etc

Re: How many 1969 camaro L78 convertible known
I believe John Ohler had a white 4 speed Convertible a while back and John Hill recently sold his Lemans blue one at BJ. There was a local Daytona Yellow one, but no docs.
