Pair of Yenko's on the block at Mecum Today

FROM THE CLIFF ERNST COLLECTION

A couple nice cars coming up at Mecum today. Any guess on what they will bring when the gavel falls? I'm curious to see how strong the market is on this pair. Lots of other nice cars coming up today including another COPO, a ZL1 car, some heavy weight Hemi cars, Shelby's, a Cobra Jet car, L78 Nova and a gorgeous LS6 (Lellow) Chevelle :naughty:

COPO 9561 427/425 HP L72 V-8 engine COPO 9737 Sports Car Conversion Package estimated between $295K and $325K

1970 CHEVROLET YENKO DEUCE LT1 350/360 HP, 1 of 175 Produced estimated between $135K and $155K

LB Yenko went yesterday for $330k, DY car didnt sell at 245K and the HO went for 212.5K. Id say since the yellow previous Ernst car will go around 300k

If you are referring to the 1969 ZL1 - no it didn't sell - bid to $550,000.

Or are you referring to a Hugger Orange COPO Camaro which didn't sell at $155,000

I watched most of yesterdays cars go across the block. The real deal rare pedigree cars held very strong but in my opinion it appeared the more common cars like the Z/28, Nova's and Mustang's have seen a softening in the market as prices were down across the board.

Unless it had an LS6, 429 CJ, Stage 2, or 427 under its hood, collectors weren't really buying it. Didn't seem like attendance was that strong to me either?

I Am referring to the unrestored A Stock 69 COPO camaro from Georgia.

That was 2016's Indy auction - it didn't sell for $155,000. I don't see that car in this year's Indy auction.

Schonyenko2 05-22-2017 03:33 AM

Thanks. Any idea who bought it. It's nice to know where other deuce owners are. I know Marlin tries to keep a record.

Gee...I didn't even get an honorable mention for the silver car....that Nova was part of our fleet for a number of years. We did a 're-fresh' on the car, added the pinstripes and I asked Skip to write the article for Nova Times. The car was displayed at the Nova Nats in Belterra in 2007...Nancy Gibb and I took a morning cruise in that car along the Ohio River...lots of fun! Dave Tinnell did the original restoration on the car back in the 90's.

Thanks Bill...I was in touch with Skip...he didn't even know the car was at the auction. If someone plays up the ownership heritage angle, the least you can do is let the guy whose name you are using know about it.

FYI: that car had a warranty transmission installed back in the day...the cost was $25!!

It was a terror back in the day...it was called "The Silver Streak"...I may even have an NOS trunk emblem somewhere for that car??

Silver Streak..

This car was sold new at Iten Chevrolet, Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. I believe the dealership is still there, but is a different name today.
