MosportGreen66 06-23-2017 01:10 AM

More info Dave! Congrats

belker6 06-23-2017 02:08 AM

Thanks guys! Not going to wash it. Here is what I know so far after talking to original owner. Car is original / unrestored by the way. Only passenger front fender as he had a fender bender early on. Original owner street raced the car. Said he made more money doing that than at a track. He added cragars and a carburetor, otherwise untouched original condition. Original owner was in Vietnam war and decided to have his good friend, who was just discharged from the service, order this car for him so it would be finished when he left the service. He ordered the car from Baldwin Chevrolet, with the hood and some upgrades from Motion. It is an original #'s match L78 / M22 / 4:56 rear gear car in Olympic gold. I compare it to Joe C's BM Chevelle as he ordered it. By the way, he put 250 emblems in place of the 396 on front fenders. :) Needs a total restoration.

Very cool.. Surprised the shortblock lasted.. Not many did! That thing is gonna look killer redone. Just please DO NOT add a spoiler!! OH and save the Cragars!!

belker6 06-23-2017 12:13 PM

Wouldn't change a thing! He said it came with dog dish steel wheels. Those are not going back on. Was a chambered exhaust car also.

cook_dw 06-23-2017 12:14 PM

Hellz yes...

What a find and serious congrats!!!
Check rear axle stamping as a '69 w/ factory 4:56 would be a Copo 9511 car!
Is there any paperwork or names to try backtracking?
Have you sent for NCRS delivering dealer info yet?
Love the 250 emblems also I'd like to see it w/ steelies and Dog caps.
YES take it to MCACN as is!!!
And you're right, it does seem a similar prep to Joe's BM Chevelle...

69 barn find..

Any chance it could be just cleaned up, made road safe and driven as is...patina and all????

The world doesn't need another restored Camaro...but a survivor...never enough of them!

Good luck with whatever path you choose...great find.

Is it alright to say, I am so jealous!? Must have said that a hundred times on this site. Where the h do you guys find this stuff? How? Love the OG. Wish my car was that color instead of HO.

belker6 06-23-2017 01:26 PM

Wilma, I agree! If it can just be made road worthy that would be nice, but probably extensive. As is it is pretty cool. No maintenance, cleaning, etc. :) Still working on docs. The original owner is golden in my eyes as it is a non "hearsay" story / history.

Mr70 06-23-2017 01:26 PM

Awesome...any overall engine photos?
How's the trunk floor look?

Neat find. Would be interested to see axle stampings as it would really be rare if a factory 4.56 rear. Killer combo with those gears.

belker6 06-23-2017 05:28 PM

Thanks for all the well wishes! Will have in my hands Sunday evening!

Ryan1969Chevelle 06-23-2017 05:38 PM

I sent a note to Bob Ashton and Ryan Brutt to get you a personal invitation.

It would be a sin to miss MCACN this November!! I personally attended with my own Barn Find and it is one of my family's best memories:-) I asked my son recently to tell me a best memory of Papa RIP he said MCACN!!!!!

(Yes Wedding, birth of our children, first house, not withstanding)

PS: L78, M22, 4.56, BM sold, Motion items, 3 owner, low mile, original owner, etc..... all great but I think the gold paint and lack of spoilers is paramount:-)

trim tag. Early Non X code

DW31S 06-23-2017 05:48 PM

Congrats! That's one helluva find there my friend. I'm in agreement with the others on the rear axle code. There is a car very close to this one at the SLS as we speak; that one is Champagne and has been restored by The Super Car Workshop and is on display.

belker6 06-23-2017 05:52 PM

I will definitely look at the axle code. I asked original owner what the rear gear ratio was, and he rattled off 4:56 right away. We shall see!

Xplantdad 06-23-2017 07:55 PM

Dave...freaking cool! Thanks for sharing thus far. It would be great and a hit at MCACN :)
