New Transplant
Trying to keep up with Bruce. Many of you know that my angel of a wife donated a kidney to our 24 year old back in 2012. Mother and son are both still doing fine.
On April 16, my daughter donated a kidney to her husband. Fortunately, she got my blood type and is the "universal donor." She is 36 and he is 35. He has been at death's door several times in the last few months, down to zero kidney function. They tried three types of dialysis, and he has received three blood transfusions just to keep him alive long enough to get his new kidney. The new kidney started making urine within an hour. He felt so much better within just a few hours, gaining strength in his grip. They got to come home two days later on Wed. evening the 18th. He was so excited that the whites of his eyes were white for the first time in over two years. The toxins in his blood had given him bloodshot eyes. Anyway, we are thankful for another miracle in our family. I am guessing I am the only guy in town with a wife and a daughter who are kidney donors. If I figure out how to get an image from my phone to my computer I wil post a pic of them walking the halls of the hospital the day after the transplant. Please don't send me a PM with the procedure.... I am gettin old and cranky when it comes to technology, and am having a hard time adapting to my new smart phone... my old flip phone died a few weeks ago. It was so old, they could not transfer my data, so I had to manually enter all my contacts. I HATE the new phone. But I digress.... |
Great success story Lynn :youguysrock:
And for what it's worth , I too miss my flip phone :frown: it never butt dialed anyone . Mike |

That is fantastic news Lynn. These cars mean next to nothing when you can see the joy that such a transplant can bring. What a wonderful family as are most transplant families. ;)

[QUOTE=Ryan1969Chevelle;1398997]Great news!!!
So glad everything is positive!! Nice transplant socks? Yep. Same socks they gave me last fall when I had the robotical radical prostetechtomy. Same facility. My daughter works there. Here is how cool my daughter is: Will try to make this short (but it won't be). Promised her in Jr. High that if she received a full scholarship I would buy her a very nice car. She did. Bought her an A4 Audi Quatro, but it HAD to be a stick shift. This girl wouldn't consider an auto trans. She put 200k miles on that car on the factory clutch before it was totaled in a hail storm. Graduates college with honors and decides to get a second degree on her own dime. Then decides on a Masters. So, by this time Sherri and I are married and we discuss helping Jenny with schooling (seeing I got out pretty cheap the first go around). I ask my daughter: "Seeing that I didn't have to pay for your college, would you like Sherri and I to pay your tuition for grad school?" Her answer: "No Daddy, I watched you put yourself through law school with no help from anyone. I can put myself through grad school." She graduated first in the program. Applied for a job as a licensed dietician at the hospital one month after graduation (162 applicants) and got the job. She is a keeper. |
Awesome Lynn. May Jesus Bless everyone involved. Amazing what doctors can do these days. Best wishes for continued recovery for everyone.

Great news Lynn!!
