Seems foolish to store cars like that..

ss427copo 12-20-2018 05:50 AM

Mark, two words. ROAD TRIP!

Unfortunately it is all BS. I know the owner and the cars, and they are well taken care of and are out at car shows every so often. Not every one, but many of them.

Crush 12-20-2018 09:31 AM

Something’s going on there.....

BARRY 12-20-2018 12:06 PM

Ryan , do you know if this is a real L88 or a lost ZL1 or what?

Charley Lillard 12-20-2018 01:22 PM

That was actually a great video. Seldom will I watch a long video but I watched all of that one.

MosportGreen66 12-20-2018 01:36 PM

I thought I saw something on IG saying that this collection has since been moved into a new building?

jdv69z 12-20-2018 02:09 PM

I'm confused. What was all BS?

Ricks72Z28 12-20-2018 02:38 PM

Amazing depth and quality of the cars collected....

marxjunk 12-20-2018 02:59 PM

It is not anything rare, just a custom done Vette.

Yes, the entire story they made up about the cars. They are not barn finds, there are a few that have been sitting a few years. But when I saw them in 2014 most had been out and about at Car Shows within a year or two.

It just sucks when people make up stuff to draw peoples eyeballs to stuff. The actual story of the guys collection is cool, they didn't have to embellish it to draw in people. But they have to make every story bigger, better and bestest to top the last one.

Steve Shauger 12-20-2018 06:19 PM

Ryan, who embellished the story... the car collection owner or the person producing the video?

It's the video people. When I met the couple in 2014 they were very different in their mannerisms and such. I'm guessing they were coached or something. Very nice, down to earth people that are more than happy to talk about their collection. But they were all nice, running driving cars. Some had been sitting, but most were at car shows and such recently.

Now could they have been sitting for 4 years, possibly. But things look different then when I was there.

I don't understand the criticism. Tom Cotter is a great guy and this is by far the best episode of Barn Find Hunters to date. I don't see where he was representing this amazing collection as anything more than that.

Hotrodpaul 12-21-2018 09:05 PM

I wonder who they have taking care of all those cars? I have about 8 cars and I don't have time to work on them all and give them proper attention. Many of these cars had flat tires, which tells me they have been sitting for awhile. Most looked to be in pretty good condition and well cared for.

Awesome collection, you can tell by the diversity that he just loves the automobile. He seemed to know alot about the cars and what he has. Being born in 1970 what was the relationship between weekly pay say for a mechanic or body guy as opposed to what the cars sold for used in the seventies?

Astock 12-22-2018 06:20 AM

Amateur, not one Pontiac.

sixt9rsx33 12-23-2018 12:54 PM

Amazing video!

I guess the definition of Barn Find is a vehicle or vehicles that have been stashed in a barn, have not moved in 30 plus years and is covered with pigeon $hit. LOL So Let me rephrase the thread title, Kool old guy with a bunch of really Kool cars stashed in his Garages. The term Barn Find along with Survivor can be easily misconstrued.. The guy has some really neat cars, I mean seriously, How many people do you know own 4 wing cars, or 2 1959 ElDorado Biarritz Convertibles. BTW, I agree with having no Pontiac's, I thought for sure there would be a Ram Air-IV, Super Duty or a Swiss Cheese Poncho stashed in the next shed they looked in. Then again there were no HEMI Cuda’s either.. Or did I miss that. I guess I will have to watch it again. Owning these cars and getting No Speeding Tickets is also hard to believe, after thinking about it for a while I realized that in all of my years of driving I also never received a ticket for speeding, even when I drove without a license because you had to be 16 to get one and I owned my first car at 14. Well at least I never got caught anyway.
Happy Holidays to all..:beers:
Mark

Cool video for sure. A diverse and profound love for cars is obviously there. Although I wish they kept a better environment for many of the cars. I'm not going to weigh into the whole debate over barn finds vs survivors etc., but would say it's a cool family of car owners and a collection I appreciated seeing. I watched the whole thing and was left wanting more.

Here's to hoping their grand kids are as much into cars and work to keep them up.

Tom and my father manufactured the 3rd seats for Woodie Wagons for a while, my dad had the feet cast and the frames made, Tom had the spring sets made. He hosts a Woodie get together at his place up in North Carolina once a year, unfortunately it is typically the same weekend as the European Concours in Greenville at the BMW plant.

purple panther 12-25-2018 10:44 AM
