Not only is this the last judge built, but a convertible survivor that was Vintage Certified and achieved Legend award.

That's not the last Judge built.
|
What year was the article dated that Tenney posted?
|
That's from the early 1980s, I believe.
|
I believe it was late 70's because I was still in HS when I saw it
|
There was one at MCACN with a later vin and I think it was the last one built.

I believe the Dr. received a letter from Pontiac stating the car was officially the last Judge built. I don't know the authenticity of that document. A later Vin is not definitive proof because options could cause build date delays, ship date is critical. I'm sure Jim with PHS could provide some insight.

The Dr.'s ad from BITD references it as the last high horse convertible.
|
The last Judge was likely the Orbit Orange car that was at the Barn Finds section last year. I have production of Judges by month and there was only one built in April—that one. The only way to ascertain for sure is to go through all the invoices.
|
it was the last Judge convertible built, just to clarify

Maybe they meant to say that it was the last of the Judge convertibles built?
|
Or that 1971 was the last of the Judges.
|
Like I said, its was a last Judge CONVERTIBLE built
|
Frank, how do we know? I am not aware someone has all the VINs.

12 of the 17 are known. |
Exactly....so which was the last ragtop? This white one? Or is there another one?
Anyway, IMHO 1 of 17 is what counts. |
#13 lived next door to my girlfriends mother in S.Pines, Pinehurst, SC. I took for granted she was the original owner. She said one of the grandkids were going to get it, in her late 70's, maybe early 80's at the time. Pretty cool it's the only car on the list with pictures, I haven't seen it since the late 1970's.
Vivid memory of her driving it at 25 mph, sunken in the seat, full on grey hair. It only had high teens for miles at the time, and perfect. Thanks for the link 69bis, I always wondered if that car was accounted for. |

From what I always understood, the Vins of the missing cars are not known? Is this correct or has more info come to light? :hmmm: ~ Pete . |
I can't be positive, but I think all VINs are known, just have not been publicized. I believe the public info is related to auto vs manual & color combos.

3-page article in the Nov 2017 issue of POCI's Smoke Signals magazine just on this car alone. Also in the same issue was a 9-page article on 1971 Judge production with color breakdowns of the convertibles.

Excellent post Mike, thanks for sharing that.
|
You're welcome! The 3-page article on the Doctor's '71 Judge was written by John Green, the 9-page article on 1971 Judge production, WT7 Blackouts, and 1971 Judge ragtops was one I authored.
