My Day 2 Nova
Finally done working on my Nova. Thanks to this site and many pictures made it my own day 2 style. Not exactly everything period correct but close as I could get. Car is originally a 350 car, non-ss but with all the trim options and factory dual exhaust, which seems to be somewhat rare for a non-ss. Now has a '71 truck 402 and m21, with a Moser 12 bolt with 3.73 and detroit truetrac with 33 spline axles. Plan to put a GM crate engine in down the road. Original color is lemans blue, someday plan to paint it back, after my '62 bubble top is done. Here are a few pictures, thought I'd share. Been reading this site a couple years now and figured I'd post up my own car.
Here is a picture before the new wheels/tires. https://oimg.photobucket.com/albums/...psm2r8qh83.jpg With new MH nostalgia 29.5x7 and 6.70 firestone fronts. https://oimg.photobucket.com/albums/...psayhgdhgq.jpg https://oimg.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1lln3e7x.jpg https://oimg.photobucket.com/albums/...psrckmacmq.jpg https://oimg.photobucket.com/albums/...psbiyz6qnr.jpg |
Great looking Nova Mike!!
I like the chrome reverse wheels and the chrome headlight half covers. I had those covers on my 69 Nova.. Rich |
Very nice :)

Sweet looking Nova there Mike. One can never go wrong with black, and that looks real deep. Wheels and tires are a nice touch and so are those yellow bars. Any pictures of the interior?
Keep em' coming! |
Nice Nova!

Very nice clean looking ride!

L78racer,
The exhaust is a stainless flowmaster kit. It was on the car when I got it. I ditched the flowmaster mufflers and put a pair of borla proxs turbo mufflers on it, they sound much better. The exhaust fits nice, except it puts the mufflers close to the pinion on the rear end, especially with a 1350. I drove it around the block yesterday and didn't hear anything hitting. |

Grady's Copo was the car that spelled it all out for me. Such a killer car...as are many of the others featured here in these threads. Cheers :beers: |

Very nice looking car, what sizes were the wheels you took off ?
|
They were 15x7 wheels with 215/65/15 on the front and 255/60/15 on the rear.

My Day 2 Nova
MonteMike: I have a '71 Nova in Black also with custom black bench seat interior and 4 speed. What size and backspace on the chrome reverse wheels, and where did you purchase them? New or rechromed used? Thanks, Don.
|
The rear wheels are wheel vintiques chrome 64 series steel wheel 15x7 with 4.25" back space. They aren't a true reverse. I ordered them from summit.

Just put in a Richmond 5 spd. The car is fun to drive, and cruises nice with overdrive. Had to cut a hole farther back and a little bigger, for the shifter to come through, but worth it. Other than that, was mostly a simple swap for the muncie. Shift linkage is tight in the tunnel, but fits. Don't know if the big block mounts help with that or not, but I think so. If everything was any farther left, I would have had to bash the tunnel some I think.
|
That should make for a better launch...with an extra gear for the highway too. Is that a 2.83 first gear?
|
I really dig your car:headbang:
I assume that is the 2 1/2" exhaust system? |
Thanks guys. The exhaust is I believe a flowmaster 2 1/2" kit. It was on the car when we got it.
First gear in the Richmond is 3.06. Jegs had it underpriced a couple months ago so I pulled the trigger. It showed up tuesday. It drives nice, I was worried about the gap between first and second, but it's not bad at all. Shifting is tight, but I've read that it will loosen up after being broken in. |
Very nice , looks like there was plenty of room in the tunnel for the transmission….
|
It fits, but the 3-4 shift rod is pretty close up top, maybe 1/4" of clearance, but does not hit during driving. The shifter also sits high on the tail housing, so most of it is through the floor. Had to use a bigger boot to cover it all up.

I like the day 2 BB upgrade :)
