Camaro Motion hood

I have a customer's 70 camaro in my shop. We are wondering if the hood on the car could be a Motion Camaro hood. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Lee

I think there were two differant styles. Not sure but I think yours is the first style with the scoop further forward. Hopefully one of the experts will chime in.

It is hard to tell who made the hood because there were many companies making them other then MP
MP sold the L88 style hood for many years and the construction techniques changed over time that hood looks to have a molded underside panel not the rough looking finish of the early hoods |

Looks like we have the same hood. I do know that this hood is at least 30 years old.

Realistically, probably 30 companies made those hoods...maybe more.
Most of the early ones until mid to late 70's were made with a chopper gun(fiberglass sprayed-all rough underneath) and the smooth undersides ones were later when people demanded better construction. Chopper gun hoods after a few hot summers the fiberglass weave could be seen on the outside of the hood and had warping issues. Companies then went to hand laid with matted construction which was 100% stronger I was told by Joel he used Manufacturers Associates/Fastglass/Legendary (same company over the years) a lot but bought hoods from whoever had the best price or had them in stock. I did buy a Motion Vega L-88 hood from Joel-legendary early 90's and it had a small M molded in and he said he did this later on so if there was a problem after the hood was painted etc he would know it was his hood.I bought it from Joel but it came drop shipped from Legendary out of PA. |

I have an early 1st gen L88 Camaro hood that looks to be the type used by
Motion in 1969 to early 70s It is a molded hood with hand laid fiberglass reinforcement on the underside the later ones had a large molded reinforcement panel on the underside like the one in the beginning of the post My hood looks to be similar to the construction on this Motion Corvette hood in last pic |

I picked up this hood today while out buying parts. It’s supposedly a Motion hood, looks to be a very early design. Can anyone confirm?

Moroso made some early hoods as well using a chopper gun. I believe mine to be one of them. Interesting to compare mine to yours. Motion L88 Hood Thread |
Its hard to ID the old fiberglass parts because there was a lot of people making them and they copied each other.
Sometimes you can find a number on them that can ID it. I have an old Camaro fiberglass trunk lid and it has the company business card glassed in. That would have been nice if they all did that. |

This is a Stinger hood that was on my 4K car when I bought it. IMO its made by Harwood per seeing another hood here for sale some time back that still had a Harwood and a Moroso sticker on it.
Compare how the underside is made on mine and it’s just like some pictured here. My hood is real light, only a few pounds. I think it’s hard to say whether these hoods were on a Motion- Yenko or whatever because the makers sold them to anyone. |
