First Swap of 2020
It’s not as good as it was at the fairgrounds, but it jan, something to do.
Damn, I tried to post a pic of the swap. Says I’m missing a security token. Jan 4,5 2020 Suberbun Showcase, Novi |
You mean the old fairgrounds at Eight Mile and M1? That fairgrounds?
Used to go there in the 80's, until it turned to crap. At the height there were five buildings full, give or take. I still remember many of the things I passed on then that are worth gold today. :dunno: |

There. Thanks.
Parts are thin these days, running dry. What’s not is on eBay. But it’s still something to do car related. There’s a Starbucks rite around the corner. We usually meet there first. Stop in. ( sat morn ) |
Boy I remember the state fair grounds swap meet use to look forward to that swap every year. The one that use to be at freedom hill was good to. I always go to this one at suburban but it’s not usually any good but I go for something to do.
|
The one that was at freedom hill, then went to GM. Now it’s out off 23 mile. It was a rain out in the spring they made it up in the fall. It was good.
This one went to Gibraltar after the Fairgrounds. The fairgrounds was really a shitty place to have it. You parked far away, froze there. The booths outside was really cold. But t here we always like it better. Lol. At the fairgrounds, I remember when my buddy was doing his 65 Nova, he found a set correct bare seats there, He was ready to masterbate. Lmao. |
I use to love when it was at freedom hill! Warm and the swap was big. Last couple years at Gm tech center was decent!
|
Ya I wonder why GM got rid of it there. Was around bail out time it was dropped.
The one out in Monroe was decent, April is usually crappy but it’s something to do. |

It’s out on 23 near Van Dyke now. It’s a good place. At the rain out make up in the fall, just as I hit the last row it started to rain. I found a mint skater tire inflater for a buddy, the label was perfect it almost got wet. Lol |
Yea I believe it’s of 21 mile there at the park! It did get rained out this year in the spring and got rescheduled till the fall which I never made the rescheduled one which I heard was great.
|
It was good. I Bought a few things. My fave still is the June Packard Prov Grounds swap/show
|
Never been to the packaged proving grounds that’s on van dyke correct! When’s that one usually?
|
It’s a nice place. It’s great that someone saved the grounds and buildings. The track is gone. Now new homes. But the watch tower and the big concrete pad is still there. They put the theme vehicles there. The stock hot rods were there a few years ago. R-12, T3 guy is always there.
The big boat is in the one building now, and a lot of Packards are stored there. Make sure you go in all the buildings. More of them is open at the June swap. Check out the link below. https://packardprovinggrounds.org/ |

I went yesterday. Found some F body stuff. It was the best one at the Novi location yet. Didn’t bump into and YenkoHeads at the show. Almost bought a 70 functional shaker, had a pc on the edge missing, all the functional stuff was there it looked like. Seemed like a ton of Ford stuff. Well, next swap in April in Monroe.
|
Aw, hell! I was there with dad! Was looking for M/T valve covers and Thrush mufflers (Hence my other thread). Left empty handed. Almost bought a Hurst Dual Gate but it was missing the bracket and cable, and I don't know how hard it is to come by that stuff so I didn't risk it. Can you tell me more about Monroe? I've been meaning to start hitting swap meets for a while now.
|
It’s at the Faigrounds there, bad thing is it’s in April, it can still be rainy or cold or both. I’m going this year. There’s a car show in a building there room. I take telegraph down. I’ll post the link when I see it.

Damn. I didn’t buy the book. I had it in my hand. When i walked away, I knew I should have bought it. Maybe the guy will be in Monroe.
Keith, I got this calendar the other day, joes auto parts has them for free at 11 & Woodward. you can have the pic, Lol I’d like to take both for a spin. 421 GP , hmm. Those back seats are pretty big rite? |
----Took me a second or so to notice the GP. Nice pic but in 64 no 421 GP ever received a 421 emblem, even the HO......Bill S
|
Lmao. A buddy put them on his 62 GP. Then I noticed they were reversed. He had to take them off and swap sides. Lol He had Mickey Lolich’s GP. Nice car.
You never see big Pontiacs in a calendar usually. |
Here’s a pic of the Packard grounds, they are restoring the buildings. They do tours at some shows. They put the kitchen together circa 30’s I think it was, they found a fridge with the compressor on the top of the fridge. I’ve never seen one like that. Pretty cool, and the big Packard Engine powered boat is in one building.
Now it says I’m missing a security token. :bs: I can’t post a pic. |
One good deal I saw was a 5-6 drawer cabinet, just full of Holley Card stuff. Jets, rods. It was a good deal.
|

Someone passed me this card at the swap last Saturday, I may go. You never know what you will find. You could prob find someone to do a custom model of your car at this one.
